  1. You’ll need a Klixon rocker. Some may have spares floating around. Is the switch broke (won’t stay in the on position)? Or is the cover cracked? If you can’t find a used one Sensata sells them new but they are pricey and you will need to find a way to label the switch. https://www.sensata.com/products/electrical-protection/20tc-series-aircraft-circuit-breaker Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  3. Now what are you going to do with that avocado exterior paint job? [emoji1787][emoji1787] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  4. I’m glad that was Snapple Ice Tea and not your actual urine. Because if that is your urine, you need to get to the emergency room ASAP. I think you have a secret urine stash somewhere. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  5. Yep, it was at the West Ts. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  6. It has my full approval Rick. [emoji1787] Love the look and the layout. I think you’ll be pleased with this setup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. If you notice, he responds in spurts. This is due to recharge cycles and periodic firmware updates. He will start his rounds between midnight and 6 am eastern. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  8. What approaches were you flying? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  9. That was a test. Al Mooney wanted to make sure we stayed on our toes.
  10. You catch him, hang him by his thumbs.
  11. That is a bum deal. I am always worried about my hangar neighbors doing something stupid. It all started back in the 1990s when a knucklehead decided to paint his plane in his T hangar. He wrapped the entire hangar in plastic and it still got through and onto all of the surrounding planes, including mine.
  12. Being a long time owner, I found a few ways to address the storage issues. Just like my fetish with flight bags, I had another one for storage. When I had my seats redone, I had a second pocket sewn in at the top of the seat back. Makes for handy storage of sunglasses, batteries and smaller items on top. I also used a number of these on the side window to hold checklists, paper approach plates, IFR clearances, etc.: https://www.amazon.com/JZMYXA-Suction-Cup-Plastic-Suction-Advertising/dp/B075W8GD1R/ref=asc_df_B075W8GD1R/?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid={creative}&hvpos={adposition}&hvnetw=o&hvrand={random}&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl={devicemodel}&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583589101716915&psc=1 Amazon sells a whole slew of different style ones. This one came in handy for when my checklists were on spiral rings: https://www.amazon.com/Suction-Stainless-Bathroom-Kitchen-Windows/dp/B01J1UYI8O/ref=sr_1_26?hvadid=77653040847611&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=suction+cup+clips&qid=1551824596&s=gateway&sr=8-26&tag=mh0b-20 I also tried this one out: https://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/portable-cargo-caddy.html And this: https://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/pilot-pocket-pen.html And I am sure a bunch of others stashed away in the hangar.
  13. Yep. The plate is attached to the top of the donut stack. When the weight of the plane is removed, the donuts should expand and push that plate up into the squat switch. You can see the movement upward is about a half inch of expansion.
  14. This is what I am talking about. When you take the load off of the wheels, the donuts are supposed to expand and activate the squat switch. On electric gear planes, when those donuts don't expand, the electric gear "unsafe" warning comes up and the gear isn't able to retract. I saw this repeatedly when I lived in Buffalo. The donuts weren't that old either. If you let the donuts age long enough, the expansion doesn't happen and the same thing happens. To deal with the cold weather issue, I installed the J model's override switch. That white plate underneath the squat switch is what gets moved up with the donuts. I have seen some planes where the owner had lowered the squat switch.
  15. I used to have one of those. Had an icicle ride down the shaft and spearfish ol' Marauder.
  16. The electric gear planes with squat switches will notice the aging issue. When they don't expand fully, the squat switch doesn't get activated. I saw one plane where the Cheap Bast$#d of an owner kept adjusting the squat switch to be able to make contact.
  17. The heck with the KitFoxes. I want one of those turbine powered Dracos that Trent is seen with once in a while!
  18. Did you get to use any of the IFR stuff we practiced on Sunday? For the casual readers, Mike stopped over on Sunday to see me. I flew with him and put him through the approach ringer. I was pretty impressed with Mike's skills. Clearly an A game player. Fly safe!
  19. I wouldn't want to be your bladder!
  20. You might be able to run the "call sign" mode instead of the N number but they can still track you back through your Mode S code that is unique to the plane.
  21. Yep and it won't be long before Garmin gobbles them up.
  22. Start with the date code on them. (4 digits)
  23. I suspect they call them “emergency” battery backups for a reason. I am seriously looking at the B&C backup generator instead of relying solo on these emergency batteries. With multiple emergency batteries available, I am relying on the rollover approach to power management. I have my circuit breaker panel labeled to know quickly which breakers can be pulled to offload the system and then count on rolling the PFD to the MFD in reversion and then finally to the ESI-500. The weak link is the battery. Both Don M and Jerry 5TJ showed us load capacity testing. Changing out the battery frequently may not be the solution. Finding another juice source may be the correct answer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  24. The "climb squared" came from old style engine management. It was written up in my POH that way. I stopped doing that years ago. There is some benefit for noise reduction but not enough for me anyways to warrant lowering the power settings on climb.
