  1. I suspect it will be handled like the rules for Mode C today -- if they can determine you have it or not. I know I have heard the military bases around my area (Dover, Patuxent & McGuire) calling out GA planes by N numbers on 121.5 for heading towards restricted areas. It sounds like they have it. Not so sure, like RLCarter above stated, all of the rest of the FAA facilities have it.
  2. You can say that again, and again, and again.
  3. I just purchased Mooney. And that little rubber intake boot you need is going to be priced at 1,653,499 AMUs.
  4. Can you tell if they put a new bezel on the front? If not, did they freshen up or replace any labels that were worn? My PFD bezel labels were pretty worn. Mine will be there for 3 weeks on Monday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  5. I would be too if I were an exceptionally tall Yetti. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  6. This is what it looks like under the cap ring with sealant mostly removed. Old one removed. New style bladder cap and base installed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. If it is not coming through the O rings, the sealant around the cap base may have failed. I’m pretty sure it is one of the fuel tank sealants used around the cap (at least it is used on the bladder caps). Slightly pressurizing the tank through the vent may show the leak around the cap. 8. There are several suppliers of these splitters. Here is a Comant version. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/coupler502.php?clickkey=1983828 You also are showing the plane has the original RG-58 cables. It is a pain to replace them, but I pulled all new RG-400 cable for the entire COM and NAV antenna. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. Thanks. I guess my local IA should know what lies beneath and/or behind these locations so drilling holes and using the correct length and type of fastener shouldn’t be an issue. I’d like to see pictures of where people mounted things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. I think everyone understands the regulations, now for the big questions. How do you mount one in a plane that never had one factory installed? A few years ago someone offered bracket attachment hardware for the seat lock. That was poo pooed. Where can you mount one and what hardware do you need to mount one?
  11. Haven’t you been banned yet for speaking heresy on MooneySpace. [emoji6] We used to hang your type on a Mooney spar by your little Beech toes. BTW - when are you going to let me see Turtle’s ex-Mooney? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  12. John - I’m an aggressive leaner and still end up with lead in my plugs. The theory is that aggressive leaning keeps the excess fuel level low and the cylinder is burning hotter to burn off excess lead. Think about what you do when you have a fouled plug. You increase the engine speed and aggressively lean it. Also, with lower power settings, like idling, there is little probability of creating an issue. Here is what an aggressively leaned plug still could look like. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  13. What's a few more AMUs spent on GMUs, GDLs or any other 3 letter money grabbing abbreviation?
  14. I couldn’t get them to work correctly with the factory rheostat. I used a PWM controller. Make sure you are using a dimmable set of LEDs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  15. Having my own Gen Z kid, my guess this guy is a millennial. He is carrying around his “I survived an airplane crash” video on his iPhone to show all his other millennial friends. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  16. I agree with Dan. His expertise lies with primarily with the C&P brands. If the OP is looking for a Mooney pre buy, especially on a vintage Mooney, best to have one of the local MSCs look at it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  17. That much water has to be coming through the cap during heavy rain. Try putting Glad Press and Seal over the cap area while it is parked and see if water keeps coming in. You only have 4 potential entry methods if the tanks are not leaking: 1) the cap, 2) the vent, 3) condensation and 4) accidental or on purpose water introduction. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  18. I think Jerry Wagner has a video out there showing his definition of “Y”. [emoji6] Then again, if he received too many “Why Jerry?” comments, he may have pulled it down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  19. What you’re seeing is very similar to what I saw. I put a Zeftronics unit in but I think any of the modern solid state regulators will correct the issue. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  20. I’m not sure of the status of the FIS-B lightning data on the Aspens. I have a Lynx and at this point it does not show FIS-B lightning. It will show the real time WX-500 lightning. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  21. DXB names the 3 MSCs in the area. Is the plane currently based in Delaware. Maybe Danb or I know it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  22. They look like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. My 75F had the original masters replaced with these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. What year F? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  25. I personally don’t think any one factor plays into how well a plane will hold up to corrosion. Between metallurgy, usage and environmental factors — its a crap shoot whether you will make it to TBO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
