  1. Anything that Spins needs to be balanced. Human body can’t feel certain vibrations, but your Crankshaft an everything aft can. 3 issues with Dynamic Balance. 1) Old Timers don’t wanna hear About it, it wasn’t available back in their day an everything worked fine. 2) Viewed as a Gimmick, sorta like MMO Conversation. People think if they don’t feel a very pronounced difference in Vibration, then they were Had!! 3) An in my opinion only. A balance Machine in the hands of an Individual that isn’t properly trained, an equipment isn’t kept Calibrated is Dangerous. A balance gone wrong can be detrimental to a Crankshaft, Dampeners, Avionics an the overall well being of the Rotating assembly. Not trying to throw stones at anyone at all If you have the Ability to have your propeller balanced by a tech that is trained an uses equipment that’s not covered with dust, do it. You won’t be disappointed.
  2. Yes Sir, That’s Robbery. A near by FBO at MEM will tell you the price is the same weather it’s a Lear 45 or a Portable. Thats never made any sense to me. I went the 280cf or 330cf x2 an never looked back, In my opinion it’s the only way to go. Also, I have found when one has copious amounts of O2 in their hanger, they tend to use it more regularly(Not so worried about the gouging at the next Re-Fill). That equates to having a more refreshed feeling after the flight, operating in Cooler Smoother thinner air is also an added perk.
  3. That’s a great question. Would think the filter would would have caught an dirt and/or Lead. If there was in fact a continuous oil flow to the props, wonder why the Engine oil isn’t tainted Grey? As I said above, Your Hands can answer this question.
  4. There is Zero Heat being pumped into the propeller hub via oil. There is no flow of oil to speak of at the propeller. Just oil moving back an forth between the Governor an the propeller. When you remove a CS prop in most cases you will notice a grey sludge in the Crankshaft an in the Bore of the hub. That’s centrifuged oil that been there for yrs. Other wise the oil would be the same color as what’s on your dipstick. can also try this: You can pull your spinner off after a flight an put your hand on the cylinder of the propeller, then put your other hand on the case halves or even the oil cooler. At that point you will see what I mean.
  5. What brackets are you talking about?
  6. Call My Secratary Haley in the morning an she will get all your Info and send it to you. She bought them from spruce I’m pretty sure. Yes it’s for sale 870-208-8882
  7. Oh, an I have a New Lens at the shop. Bought two an only Broke one........So!
  8. The little Drunk Leprechauns in my hanger went this route, an I’m glad they did. Have you ever felt how hot the OEM bulb gets? These are super bright an have no amp draw to speak speak of. Very please with the installation an their work. Wish they would stop chanting Bud Light every time I leave an turn out the lights. Strange little Guys
  9. Someone Say Rocket?—:):):):) Now I just need to get a smart watch, I’m still old school in the watch department.
  10. I agree Paul. I would comment on that, however I can’t be sure who all is reading. So I will just sit over here in my little corner an keep all my “If you strap enough Horsepower to something” Comments all to myself...lol
  11. I really couldn’t say how much Thrust it would make. You would definitely decelerate, or Overspeed. Possibly both. Would be like doing highway speed an downshifting to 1st Gear.
  12. 20/50 Phillips an Aeroshell 100W
  13. Speaking of Rockets: My 520 when using Phillips, the oil will stay Clean an Gold with maybe Half quart of consumption in 25Hrs. Running it on 100W now, Uses one quart every 11 flight hours an the oils gets dark in Color in 12-15 hrs. Compressions are good an Oil Reports are showing no issues to speak of. Going to switch back to Phillips next oil change for obvious reasons, then the fact you can still buy an actual case of Phillips still
  14. I grew up there. You just wanting to know what’s going on there? I could call an ask some questions for you if you need me too.
  15. Was a Kroil guy for a long time. Had a salesman walk into my shop with a spray can with a corny label on it. He had a bolt he was holding upside down an he squirted some where the head an shank meet an I watched that oil climb up the bolt. It also foams for a bit vs just running off. Dosent have the Fancy smell like Kroil, an doesn't stink like PB Blaster. Better than both in my opinion
  16. All night in Hoppe #9. It cleans an Etched my injectors to where they appeared new. Inspecting them with a 10x Needle Prob, the insides like looked great as well.
  17. No sir, It fits fine if you remove the lens the right way. A heat gun does the trick.
  18. Went a different route. Fellow Mooney Driver told my elves about these lil Aero-Lites, very Satisfied other than the Lens that Has to be replaced.
  19. Paul I have to agree. When I was in my F model, every J I seen I wanted to Hijack!!! I had never seen a Rocket before this thing showed up, I don’t think it was actually 100% for sale when I ended up with it. But there are no complaints on my end thus far. There is just something about 1500fpm to 18K, then 1000-1200fpm to FL240 while sucking 3 oil wells dry that just turns my Crank!!! One of the more Common Complaints about the Rocket is the FF, however if you have time to kill you can always pull some knobs back an slow it down. Yes it’s more Costly to Operate, Yes it’s more Costly to FEED. But I don’t know that I would trade it for anything short of a Howard 500. BTW——> I never have time to Kill
  20. Did I hear someone say Rocket? I personally Prefer the 252 FWF C-414...:)..:)..:) Yes they are Heavy on the nose wheel an Hard on the Fuel consumption, but with proper operation it’s not that bad in terms of MPG. As far as grass field operations go, Call ahead an get a solid pirep on the fields conditions. My Rocket Goes Into Gastons(3M0) on a regular basis with no Ill effects, just try an keep the bouncing to a minimum an keep the nose as light as possible.
  21. Fooling with my metal mistress tonight in the hanger, kicked the lights on just to double check all points an noticed I had a light out. But the other was burning just fine. But that’s a Problem. Little sucker felt like it was on fire. The fiberglass all around it was extremely hot too!! Anyone know of any replacement LED that would fit this installation? Thanks in advance.
  22. Awwww Yes!!!!...... A very sticky Subject. The Short Answer is Put weights on the hub. But that just how I do it. There are times I will install weights in the Spinner ring gear Backing plate if need to make a tiny adjustment. Also have to say my Repairstation only uses Chadwick-Helmuth Balance an Vibration equipment. So we work out of the 9511-2 Manuel, an That Manuel states very clearly nothing is to be bolted to the starter ring gear of a Lycoming engine. I can’t speak for Access Equipment or DynaVibes having never cracked the Manuel on one. They May say otherwise. But a good rule of thumb when balancing a propeller is to stay as close to the propeller as possible. The further you get from the propeller with solution weights, the less affect it has on the balance issue
  23. The actual hub isn’t filled with grease. Each bearing cavity is filled with grease individually. The way the OP propeller is now, most likely you would be able to remove 5 of the grease fittings an put grease in the 1 fitting an see grease coming out of the other 5. That means the entire hub is completely full of grease.
