  1. Yes, I upgraded my Aspen! I will look into the thread in beechtalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. Before starting to troubleshoot I was wondering if somebody could give me some advice on what may be going on. My Aspen drives the STEC55X autopilot. Lately when I set the heading bug, the STEC moves the planet 5 to 8 degrees off the assigned heading. All other functions work perfectly well. What may be going on? Thanks for any advice Oscar
  3. Obviously, the pandemic is limiting my flying and I have time to spare to go over some of these older threads...
  4. Key would be to know, what parts are needed and how to do the installation.
  5. Hi there, I have been looking into the option of installing a turbo on my M20C. It seems you have one installed. I was wondering if you could share with me some information about the installation and of course who has the STC now... Thank you...
  6. Great trip and video. Landings are also very nice! right on the centerline!!! Nice job
  7. Everything depends on the cost of the STC and the installation of a turboprop engine. If the cost range for the upgrade (I have no idea about how much such an engine costs) would be more than 40 k, the upgrade would cost more than the many of the 10k M20s that are still around... so do the maths.
  8. The antagonistic part of the equation is hard to deal with. My point with her is that this something that makes me feel well and that is a win/win for everybody. We agreed on a certain timeframe when I go flying and if I want to go at another point in time, I need to negotiate it... It works well.
  9. Welcome to my world. My wife hates flying. She must have Flown a few times with me, but she has motion sickness... so it is not fun for her. So made peace with it and fly by myself. My youngest son is the only one in the Family who has gotten the bug... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. I had mine for more than 5 years and I love it.
  11. I used www.schemedesigners.com they are really great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. I fully agree with you. M20C are very capable of taking off from grass strips. The only issue is the low clearance. So you have to be careful, but if the strip is in good shape not a problem at all. Actually, the smoothest landings are on grass....
  13. I cover Costa Rica from El Salvador. Next time I am in San Jose we should get together. May be I can even fly there. The only problem I see in flying into San Jose are the high costs at Tobias Bolanos. Oscar
  14. 5.2 looks great. Craig does an fantastic job, he worked on my Mooney too and I am having it painted as we speak. Oscar
  15. Chris nice videos!
  16. Nice concept! I really like what you did.
  17. I don't want to be in that wake turbulence!!!!
  18. Hi there! I would be more than happy to go to a Mooney summit just to hang out and if I can share some of my experience flying around the region happy to do so. My big plan now is to fly down to Argentina at the end of the year. My wife gave me reluctantly the green light for the project (she just asked me after a long discussion, about my life insurance policy). So it may be a go. I am currently trying to figure out the route. The shorter route is via the Pacific but it seems more complicated and I would have to cross the Andes, which by itself if a huge problem for a non turbo plan... In any event with covid everything is a no go... and my plane is in the paint shop... I tried several times to organize my life to be able to get to a summit, but mostly work ruined my plan. But if you guys ask me to present I am sure I will make it. Oscar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  19. I have been using my AOA for more than 8 years and I love it. I would say for approaches I am relying more on it than on my AI. I installed it in my panel, so it is part of my scan. Here is a short video of how I am using it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  20. Interesting discussion. Now, everything starts making more sense. I will try that approach once I get my plane back from the paintshop
  21. I fly it regularly uo and down. In the last 5 years I have done it 4 times. Not a big deal, once you get over the fear of flying over water...
  22. Yes, it depends. Mooney tried to save some money in later models and they eliminated that option. I always wondered if it really made any difference in terms of speed. For sure it looks nicer when it retracts.
  23. No, te step does not retract. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. I tried them out and I was not convinced. I was never able to print something usable.
  25. I use them and they work. I find that you have to put some moisture on the interior of the glass and then pressure them a bit on.
