  2. Regardless, if I am going to be able to purchase a new M20... (which I am not), I hope the brand and the company continues to exist. Oscar
  3. Dear Phil I don’t know if my contributions might be of interest to the rest of the Mooney community. But I could write about mistakes I committed upgrading or how it is to fly internationally. So count me in. Oscar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  4. The Story is Even stranger. There is a similar plane with the same registration flying in the US. Now THAT IS INTERESTING!!! https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/209860 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  5. I do. I bought one several years ago and I use it each time I fly from Central America to the US I use it. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it is built and support is great. Because I just need 2 additional hours of fuel, I got the 20 gallon tank. Highly recommended. Oscar
  6. When I was posted to La Paz, Bolivia, the only plane that was able to fly Miami - La Paz (the airport is at 14,000 feet) was the 757. Even at that altitude take off performance was nice, while the 737 or the 320 that other airlines used felt anemic to say the least.
  7. great documentary. thank you for sharing
  8. Just to give you an update. The cable that connects the alternator to the electrical system is obviously as old as the plane and it seems that it was getting chaffed and it was touching some metal... so I am changing the cable. On the fuel flow, the contacts seem to be dirty.
  9. Thank you Andy. The reason why GPS2 is not valid (nor 1) is because I have no flight plan loaded in the GTN750 (GPS1), nor 650 (GPS2). It happens all the time at this airport. It did not center later on. This is the response from tech support: "Try switching to FOV1 (narrow) field of view. It will help. Look along the right side of the screen and press the FOV2 button, it will switch to and read FOV1. It might be a good idea to update the “NAVDATA” database in the Aspen, if Jepp made any corrections to the database, it might solve the problem. They make corrections from time to time and add new towers. You do not need to download the Terrain database, that one hasn’t changed since 2012. Best regards," I am going to update the DB and report back to see what happens.
  10. Dear Andy, Welcome on board! This group is really a nice forum where as a Mooney owner you can find constructive advice and support. Amazing to have you here! I hope we don't scare you with all our questions. I have to say to you guys have been very responsive and have always tried to help with prompt and relevant advice. In a separate thread I raised one issue that seems to be common at least to two of us. So your advice would be highly appreciated.
  11. Yes, it was ok. The breaker popped after the gear went up and on the ground it popped again.
  12. Flew the airplane again gear came up nicely, but now the Alternator breaker popped... so back to square one... Obviously something is wrong... Very upsetting... Any ideas... Oscar
  13. Thank you for your response. At least I know that i am not facing the problem alone. I just sent an email to Aspen asking what is going on. May be we need to update the terrain database on the Aspen. For sure it is rather annoying. Oscar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. This is something that has been going on for a while and I can not figure out why. Although I am on the runway my Aspen says that I am not... any ideas of what is going on? Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  16. Home Aviation News Aviation News Mooney Employees Furloughed Again Marc CookJanuary 6, 20207 Employees at Mooney’s Kerrville plant, furloughed on Nov. 11 and recalled in early December, are once again out of work. The Kerrville Daily Times is reporting that employees were told to “go home” today and that the company would not be giving them the two weeks of holiday pay they were promised earlier this month. Devan Burns, who worked for Mooney in human resources, told the paper that 55 employees were discharged today. “There have been a lot of promises,” she said. “I’ve just been trying to help keep Mooney stay alive. It’s extremely frustrating.” As we mentioned earlier, Mooney was seeking additional investment. Burns acknowledged this to the Kerrville Daily Times but said she “wasn’t sure what the future held.” AVweb will have more information when it becomes available. 17. Hi there! Yes, GoPro batteries run out out really fast. I get about 90 min out of them. If it is cold even less. Garmin VIRBS (first generation) hace the best battery life about 3 hours. They don’t make them any longer. It seems that they make this cameras for extreme sports with short attention span, not for long cross countries. My channel is I am looking forward to watching your videos!!! Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  19. Well, I got it up and everything worked flawlessly!!! Now I am puzzled... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  20. Yesterday I decided to go flying after a long time... (to much work). I should have noticed that if one thing is wrong you should not fly... my gut said no, today is not the right day... although weather was perfect and wife had suggested that I should go flying!!! I start the engine and fuel flow shows 0.... well just the fuel flow meter must have gotten disconnected. Not a big deal! The GTN did not update correctly... well it is a wonderful VFR day not an issue. The AOA is not working... well not on the MEL. But I should have listened... So I taxi out and lift off climb out and raise the gear... instead hearing the usual noise... I hear the gear motor for a moment and a load click! Nothing !!!! First reaction fly the plane... second navigate let’s get out of the pattern and last communicate. Troubleshooting, let’s put back the breaker and see what happens... nothing... ok is the gear up or down? Gear up light is out... so (mistake: did not check the floor indicator). I guess it is up. I started thinking about insurance etc... but then let’s care about those issues later, now I just have to get back on the ground in one piece... So, manual gear extension... got a green and back to land... thank you God (I promise to be a better person), not nicest landing in the world, but at least I was back. Any ideas what the problem might have been??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. Merry Christmas to all of you! I also wish you all a wonderful 2020 with lots of flying!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  22. Not bad. He describes the M20 accurately and says "this may not be an entry level option" which is true.
  23. Wow THAT IS Hard to beat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. One thing I can not understand is how Cirrus can come up with a 410 trainer and Mooney can only dream of selling planes for over 700k... something does not make sense Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  25. Indeed. I have seen worse things happen...Safety is just perceived differently depending on your circumstances.
