  1. I was looking at the Dynon www page and it is really cool. Now the only issue that I see is that the autopilot system has not been certified to work on our Mooneys. Any idea when they may be ready with the STC? Otherwise it seems a nobrainer to me.
  2. I love watches too. My grand father had a patek phillipe which I inherited and a gave it to my son. As they say in their add, you don't own a watch you just borrow it for a while and you give it on... I have to admit that up until recently I had (in addition to my grand father's watch) a Rolex and a Breitling... I love my Rolex so much, that I ended up giving my Breitling to my other son. However, then I purchased a Apple Watch and I once I understood all its functionality it became the one that I am now wearing every day. Oscar
  3. How complicated is it to fly in Brazil with a N-registration?
  4. But are those only the ones on an IFR flightplan?
  5. Really nice! I always wanted to land at Santos Dumont. My aunt lives Praia do Flamengo and from her apartment I could see the sugar loaf and the planes coming into Santos Dumont. I did not know that you could fly into Santos Dumont with a single engine plane.
  6. I had one installed. I love it. It is much easier and functional to use and your mag checks are a no brainer. Now, on the downside, you have to remember to switch the mags off!! I forgot it already once or twice. Oscar
  7. Thank you! Do you have the installation manual?
  8. I am in the process of upgrading my panel and I will have an Aspen and two G5s installed. Can I get away with the mechanical airspeed indicator and altimeter, or do I have to keep them? Any suggestions more than welcomed.. Oscar
  9. thank you!!! it even smells new...Considering that the girl is nearing 50... not bad
  10. I flew it today for the first time. Unfortunately the weather was marginal so I could only do pattern work and a limited short flight outside the pattern... But already I saw a huge difference. First the plane starts much easier (it is lighter and the starter spins faster...). second it is quieter and smoother, third take off distance is shorter, fourth it reacts much faster to throttle changes, fifth once i left the pattern the plane accelerated much faster and I also felt that its attitude was more nose down than with the McCauley prop. Which would make sense considering that the Mc Cauley is heavier... I also felt that the plane was a bit faster, but I need to double check it before making such a statement. Oscar
  11. should work now
  12. COVID 19 has limited how much I have been able to fly my Mooney. So I decided to take advantage of the down time and give her little facelift (she is reaching her 50s...). New paint, new panel, new MT prop, new interior and everything electric. Obviously this is my last plane.... Here is a video of the transformation process.
  13. I fully agree with you. And this is how my panel looks now:
  14. Indeed, JPI's techsupport is not among the best in the business. My experience with them has not been stellar and most of the times I had to figure out the solution to the problem by myself. However, the unit is really nice. I also installed the CIES senders connected to my FPI 900 and they are great. Oscar
  15. Good question. My calculations are: I lose my alternator. I lower the gear... (I don't want to find myself having to lower the gear manually later...) Then I start disconnecting stuff. Leaving only my GTN750. I should have at least 1.5 hours of juice left on the plane battery. That should give me enough time to return or to land somewhere. If that is not enough and my battery dies too, I would still have 4 hours of power on the G5s. In total that gives me around 5 hours of flying time... Which should be enough... considering that I seldom plan a flight that long.
  16. Weather derailed my flight... so next saturday
  17. Hi there, I have the CIES sender installed and linked to my JPI. They work nicely, although they are still not too accurate. It depends mainly on how you calibrate them. I feel I did not do a good job calibrating them, so I plan on recalibrating them shortly. But i like them much better than the original ones.
  18. Very interesting discussion, I just replaced my three blade Mccauley with a MT. I am going to fly tomorrow for the first time. I heard so many things, that I am really curious, but I am trying to keep my expectations low. I will report back.
  19. Thank you! @Alan Fox @SheryLoewen @Jerry PressleyDo you guys have one of these....
  20. I am looking for a pressure switch for my landing gear. These are the pictures of the switch. Any idea where I can get one?
  21. Very nice! Would love to live in a community like that.,..
  22. I a not a CFI si take these words as hangar talk with little value. If you are inside the envelope you are ok However, be aware of some issues: Take off roll: will be longer, so keep that in mind when you fly Climb performance will be less. So don’t push it and Keep an eye on the temperatures! oil temp and CHT. After take off let the plane accelerate a bit so You get enough airflow. Heat in the cabin! 4 adults in one cabin... lots of body heat. Take water with you. So you don’t get dehydrated... even on a short flight The plane will feel heavier. So on landing be aware of this. Look at your maneuvering speeds, stall speeds etc. Enjoy your flight! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. Well it seems they are reaching out to je owner of the Other Mooney’s our there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
