  1. I have the EDM900. It’s an ok unit and does what I need it to. I download the data and use it to build my logbooks.
  2. I wish mine were yellow at limits. It’s yellow for oil pressure, but when fuel pressure hits 30psi, it blinks red.
  3. You can program your fuel limits yourself. No need for JPI to do those from the factory. As for CDT, it’s a dead fish on Rocket installs, but because of JPI limitation requirements, it’s gotta be there. Most people just put the probe as far from the compressor discharge as possible and use it to measure intercooler efficiency.
  4. Nope. It’s red for the fuel pressure. Really pisses me off. JPI won’t (or can’t) do anything even though the engine limit is 45psi, the original panel limit was 30 and all new pumps will touch that from time to time when you’re on short final or taxiing around.
  5. I climb at full power. Check your vernatherm.
  6. Bear in mind you want to mount it in front of you so you don’t have to have the remote light. If your fuel pressure touches 30psi at idle or oil pressure drops below 60psi, you’re gonna get distracted by the blinking light.
  7. I’d use Phil at PJ Aircraft at KAVO, Mike at Double-M at KLAL or Bill Turley at KBOW for a Mooney PPI.
  8. Add your 696 to your Garmin account by the ID number (menu, menu, scroll to database info at the bottom, near the bottom you’ll see the ID number). Then load the data onto the SD card. Install SD card in 696. It will ask if you want to update, say yes, wait for like 10x as long as it takes to update a 430W data card. Database is then updated.
  9. That was awesome! Included everything, even approach plates and worldwide data. Looks like it works for the 430/530/GTN/G1000, etc too.
  10. I have one from Bruce’s and one from www.airplane-covers.com. I like the latter better. I also highly recommend to spend a few dollars extra to have them install a door flap. You will invariably have some reason to get into your plane after covering it at some point and if you’re on the ramp somewhere in high winds, being able to unclip and unvelcro a section to open the door is absolutely worth it. I also went with the cheaper material on that cover since it is only used occasionally. One advantage that I didn’t anticipate is that it takes up a lot less space and weighs less.
  11. I feel like pax probably dislike seeing a piston single in the queue.
  12. The SD card in my 696 is a few years old and a lot has changed. Anyone here have a full subscription that would be willing to update me with a previous cycle's data so my 696 can be less out of date? I pretty much use it for traffic and weather, but it would be nice if the airport identifiers were a bit more current.
  13. I wonder what's going on. It looks like a number of people have posted that they're interested in buying a Mooney. No offense to any of our new members on this as this is good news to us. I'm curious what the driving factors are: Reduction in available flights on the majors? Risk or additional BS with COVID-19? Increases in stock values from the latest round of QE? Ultra low interest rates on financing? People realizing their own mortality and taking new interest in tackling "bucket list" items?
  14. Vy on the M20F is 113 - 1mph per 1000ft. I was still making 200fpm when I stopped climbing at FL220 in my naturally aspirated M20F at 2700 RPM. I would lean in the climb. Do you have an engine monitor or EGT?
  15. What's odd is my M20F jumped a couple hundred dollars, but my Rocket went down, making the combined premium roughly the same as the previous year. My guess is there have been an uptick in gear up landings of vintage Mooneys. I recommend you get a Rocket too, that way your premiums can remain the same.
  16. I have both. I have a 6000TTAF airplane that is wonderful with a low time engine. I love the plane. I also have a <2500TTAF Mooney Rocket. I like that plane. While the Rocket is a more practical traveling machine, I can replace it easily. The M20F, not so much, and it's a more enjoyable airplane to fly. The Rocket is for traveling and the M20F is for flying.
  17. HE WAS UNDER THE BRAVO THE ENTIRE TIME!
  18. We Florida financial (they lend nationwide now) starts at 3.99%. Talk to Alexander Martin.
  19. Any will do; it depends on your budget. It's still cheaper and faster to fly the airlines and do the 3hr drive for the long trip. Texas to NY is a long cross country, even in a turboprop.
  20. I found that Uber from VGT to the strip was cheaper than Henderson, which is why I chose VGT; I have never flown into Henderson. Also, sometimes the controllers send you right down the strip when you're going to VGT, which I remembered being a lot of fun. The procedures in and out of VGT can be a bit weird with sandwiched altitudes. I also would recommend stopping in Sedona just to see it if you can afford to take the time to do it.
  21. That sucks, dude. What the f--- were they doing for 190 hours at 115/hr? That's a rate that you pay for professionals who know what they're doing; if they've got someone that doesn't know what they're doing, they pay them less and eat some hours. I think my IA charged me something like 4-8 hours to rearrange my radio stack for me, remove the ADF and LORAN and antennas, and that's with the Rocket's riveted radio cages.
  22. Bear in mind if you're flying a coupled approach and are way high on the ILS, you can get a false glideslope and your autopilot may attempt to stall you.
  23. St Pete Air at KSPG in Florida charges me $45 to do my Rocket. Just thought I'd mention it here.
