  1. Thanks for the kind words. Yes the Ovation is still for sale. I bought a '93 TLS with 580 TT to bring up to par to replace the Ovation and ultimately end up having less into. However 2-1/2 months later and I still have two airplanes - so one of them must go: the Ovation or the TLS (which has had a ton of things done since I bought it: new Aero Comfort interior, exten$ive annual, panel upgrade, etc, etc)
  2. . . . and an unacceptable useful load. A buyer may rationalize it and say well it's usually only me that flies, but they will still have to sell it someday and will have just as much trouble moving it as this owner.
  3. He is correct - that is why on my Ovation with dual Aspens with backup battery, a Lifesaver Midcontinent Electric Attitude had to be installed when the previous owner re-did the panel. By doing all of this he was able to remove the vacuum system.
  4. Don did it in a day for me.

  6. That makes sense since WD stands for water displacement.
  7. I don't blame you for going with a factory engine. Psychologically after having an engine failure and a very close call, it would be hard to put your life in the hands of that engine again, even though it had been overhauled. Factory option carries its own advantages, with all new accessories, exhaust, warranty through the manufacturer rather than just one shop, etc, etc. Plus you should be able to get back in the air a lot sooner. Keep us posted on the progress.

  9. Brand new set of Bose X never out of the box. These come with the panel power (Lemo) plug. $475 plus $10 shipping. SOLD
  10. Highly doubtful that they'll take it as a core (Section A, point 4 on the service letter below): lycoming service letter 250.pdf
  11. Try polishing compound on the outside of the lens before you try replacing them.
  12. My airplane does not take a PAR46 but a 36, but I installed the Aero LED PAR36 on a previous airplane and they are the brightest on the planet. If you only have only light, it better be the brightest you can get. A bright light on a taxiway at least allows others to see you and on short final and just before flare it's priceless.
  13. If you can't do it locally these people will do it for $225. http://www.bevanrabell.com/avionics-bench-repair/capabilities-list/
  14. Garmin 396 with XM antenna and all cords, etc. Great Condition. Brand new battery $475 Bose X with Panel Power Lemo Cord. Excellent condition. New ear cups and mic muff. Bose case. $400
  15. That is correct! At least that's what they said at Oshkosh last July.
  16. $6.64 including shipping http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hopkins-Flotool-10709-Spill-Saver-Oil-Funnel-/161934858818?hash=item25b411da42:g:5GwAAOSwa-dWhp2N&vxp=mtr
  17. Ok, for $12 that might be worth it
  18. If their shop rate is $100 per hour . . . they could have been working on someone's airplane
  19. One other slight benefit often overlooked . . . ADS-B out also may get you seen by someone before they collide with you. (see and be seen) If you spend the money to get ADS-B out spend a few hundred more and at least get weather and traffic on your phone or ipad. There's Stratus, GDL-39 or even Stratux. Here's my setup: ADS-B Out with Avidyne IFD540 and AXP340 ES Transponder ADS-B In with Garmin GDL39 3D, traffic and weather displayed on Garmin 796, iPad Air2 and iPhone 6+
  20. wow - $300 in pvc, glue, fasteners and labor to get a quart of oil a year.
  21. I didn't overhaul the regulator. The bottle was timed out and had to be changed. After re-install, the old boss fitting was not sealing properly.
  22. I just had to replace this part when replacing the O2 bottle. The part number for the Boss fitting, which is a metal ring gasket, is 59776-01. Aviall was able to supply it for around $75.
