  1. Tragic. I was at FXE flying earlier today. May they RIP.
  2. N199Q, is the tail number. I'm glad everyone is OK, but I agree this does a big dis-service to the flying community.
  3. The gag order is in effect, I can not answer, or even give an opinion. I guess its just too bad for the Thunderbirds. Maybe they can go play golf.
  4. I have been told with one notch of flaps your ok with another 10 - 15 kts on my long body. I have forgotten to retract them once (hehe) and took it even faster. I would guess your safe to 120 - 125kts with 10 degrees. (this is not an endorsement to go beyond the white arc on your airspeed indicator, just an opinion)
  5. Just google Mooney m20 J POH and it comes up.
  6. Where should we send your check Scott?? Paypal ok?
  7. It is our fault!!!! No question. We all cry that Congress does nothing, and their approval rating is terrible. Then on election day we vote them all back in!! We are to blame, we have becaome an apathetic, fat, lazy people and we deserve what we have now.
  8. The bottom line is that they are cuttin .02 of every dollar "of growth". There is no real cut back of spending, its a cutback of the growth of spendin. They are not cutting. Times are tough right now and now that all of us have tightened our belts, its time for the government to spend our money just a little more wisely. To cut 2% off the growth of spendin they can close our tower from 7:30pm to 9pm when it normally closes. That is 2% of total spending for the tower (not of the growth). Its more like shutting it down 15 minutes earlier each day. There doesn't need to be these painfull drastic cuts. Here in Fort Lauderdale instead of cutting Police, Teachers, and first responders, maybe they shoud cut out the Millions of dollars worth of landscaping and sprinker systems on the highways. Maybe they do not need to install pavers at all the intersections downtown. Maybe they don't need to repave the roads every 6 months. I don't care what side of the aisle you are on, lets just use some common sense.
  9. I have the EDM 730 (6 Cyl) . Fits in 2 1/2 inch hole, and provides tons of information in an easy to read format. Bigger screen than the G4. Not quite as clean looking on the panel.
  10. Affordable ??? South Florida ?? I'm based in Pompano, which I would think would be cheaper than anywhere in Miami and a single hanger is in the $650.00 / month range. That being said, I do keep mine hangered.
  11. I have flown 1st tank for 1.5 hours (25 gallons) before switching and it was ok. In the Eagle each side holds 37.5 gal. I don't think I would fly much more out of balance.
  12. I, like most have made my share of mistakes after 25 years. My goal is to learn from them and never allow myself to repeat them.
  13. It's a Critical Service Bulletin, and in the eyes of Continental it is "critical for flight safety". I guess that means it's not manditory as far as the FAA is concerned, but I for one would be concerned if I was made aware of it and did nothing. I do fly family and friends.
  14. As if these engines didn't cost enough to maintain....... http://www.tcmlink.com/pdf2/CSB08-3B.pdf This will need to be complied with.
  15. If you have a newer Mooney its a Medeco key for the ignition, and I was told I had to get it from Mooney through their locksmith. $$$
  16. Speak to Parker at Falcon, they represent many carriers.
  17. Detahawk is still in business, as far as I know, but their engines are for the experimental market, not certified.
  18. I had to look that word up, I'm so embarrassed. 20kt wind at 90deg is more than i would feel confident in!
  19. Call Premier in Ft Lauderdale. They can give you some names of qualified instructors.
  20. I like to fly with a pocket. If there is a lot of interest I'll get some made up. I would want a quality shirt with embroidered logo (and a pocket).
  21. I'd like to get some pocketed Polo Shirts with the new logo , or old Thunderbird logo on them. Has anyone ever had any embroidered? Any ideas.
  22. Parker Im on that IFD 440 list also. Can't wait. I was thinking the same thing on the Nav-Com to replace the KX 155A.
  23. When I first transitioned into the Mooney my instructor told me to fly by the numbers. If your on downwind at 14" mp and your speed is not what it should be, your plane is not configured right. On final and your speed is still 90 kts or more, you better check Something! GUMPSAC. I do one before entering the pattern, one after turning base, and one on final. All that said sometimes distractions come up and it's easy to forget to fly the plane. I was practicing an instrument approach with my instructor when my master warning light started flashing, I was all over that light and its cause........... But I let the approach get away badly. Things happen, use your checklists, mental and written and you will not have a gear up.
