  1. I believe some STCs were having his name on the form and not LASAR which makes me thinks he still owns them. Or not?
  2. Paul, Where did you get custom ear molds? Was there much of a difference? My wife has Halos for years now and loves them but I still haven't tried them myself. Seems custom molds would be a way to go.
  3. From website of the dealer: "Comes with GA35 WAAS/GPS Antenna, Datacard, tray, backplate, connector kit and pilot's guide".
  4. if you are truly <60% you are doing well! My 67F can touch 150 KTAS but at 65%, 9gph. Years ago I would do 4 track GPS runs ROP that would net 155-157 KAS but that was more like 75% (I didn't have FF at the time). Math seems to confirm that..
  5. I see, from your avatar, that your F is heavily modified. What's your True speed?
  6. Is that what the crew of restored B307 said after they diched it into Elliot Bay?
  7. Ross, You could be right. I remember the louvers on the skin however not sure where the "in" of the duct is. But I would think it can't just suck air directly out of the cabin as would get really cold. I'll have to look next time... But I do seem to remember it was more difficult to close the door with window closed, second time around. Only one way to find out!
  8. I would remove them. I just measured Narco ADF antenna I had removed and it came up to 5.25 lb (with cable). It was, actually moved by previous Mooneyac under the fiberglass panel to gain 1/4 kt!
  9. M10 Cadet is really ercoupe, right? Not many owners hang out here but Univair should have the parts, IIRC. Good luck.
  10. I've got my complex endorsement on '77 M20J. Part of training was opened door on takeoff. Procedure was climb to altitude and level (100 mph or so), open storm window and apply rudder for slipstream to help closing the door. It was easy to do it. Years after, it happened on my F at the takeoff, after my wife didn't latch the door properly (I didn't check that). It was as easy to close as well. Replacing the door seal and properly fitting it helped preventing this again as door is much easier to close.
  11. I never seen M22 in person but looking at IPC it didn't have a space frame construction as M20 does. It looked like conventional monocoque, albeit not round. I am sure a lot of sealant was used... never hear of sealant being referred as "dope", though.
  12. I'm sure you are aware of it since you are in aviation writing business but there are often old articles about M22 for sale on ebay. Also, AOPA Pilot had an article years ago but it seems it diapered off their website. I could probably find it on my computer if needed.
  13. Where is it based? There are number of pictures taken in eastern EU between 2011-2016.
  14. it does look that way! but it's not. I think red box is smaller cabinet/storage for resistors...
  15. I don't think it's only SWAT cowl mod that has this issue. it happened to my '67F with stock cowl (apart form Lasar closure). I had to replace #2 drain line and tie the SCAT away from tube.
  16. I recently have similar issue with EI EGT probe on my CGR30. EGT1 was lower then others... reason was that actual sensing element with wires got loose from outer jacket/shield. It is swaged in it (I think) and got loose when probe was almost new but was running good for more then couple of years. Recently, I had to remove it to replace intake O-ring and it completely fell apart. Since then, EGT was some 200+ degrees lower then it should be. New probe solve the issue.
  17. It would be great if you or others could post some pictures of that plane...
  18. I believe airplane is now based in Europe but still registered in US. FAA record shows owner is PLANE FUN INC TR TRUSTEE in GA that seems to own a number (like 222) of N-registered planes. I remember seeing N7706M for sale couple of years ago on TAP, I believe price was $80k. BTW, this plane was Swiss registered HB-DEW for a while and there's a video online of the owner showing a plane and explaining details. it had same paint scheme as now, except for the tail number.
  19. Yeah, if you do this during the annual, it doesn't really cost you much (time) as plane is already open. I really don't think 5h is unreasonable and I believe I was charged something like that years ago. Since then, I do owner assist annuals and maintenance and believe me, I spend more then 5h to open and close all the panels necessary. Lubricating and greasing will add more time as well... Over last decade (or more) that I am doing owner assist maintenance I have learn one thing: No matter what quote for labor I get, I would think it’s high but takes me more time to complete it myself. I told my IA that few times. YMMV.
  20. I would suggest you install GARMIN GAE 12 due to it's miniature size and it fits to the back of the GNX tray. I've installed it with my GTX335 install even with old encoder working.
  21. IIRC, they stopped races for couple of years before and then came back... I guess they see ROI in aviation being very low while spending 100s millions of dollars per year on F1 as no brainer.
  22. You do understand you just described a J3 Cub, right? No one describes those as sturdy and with roll bar.
  23. It all depends of your panel setup and $$ you want to spend... You just might consider Avridine IFD540 + remote Transponder that Lafaette avionics is selling for $12900 or so. Same harness and would take a space of your Garmin 430 and transponder. It would still need some installation time, though...
  24. Since Bob already mentioned diners at the field, I'll give you few air museums you might want to visit: McMinnville (KMMV), Hood river (4S2) Tillamook (KTMK), Boeing Field (KBFI), Paine Field with 3 museums (KPAE), Pt. Townsend (0S9) and Concrete 93W5) are just a few I can think off.
  25. I'm surprised no one commented on these... How much were before they dropped the price? I find spending $2k for my F (with 2 PAR46) just plain stupid. But then Lopresti are always proud of their products .
