  1. i seem to recll beaucracy and airport taxes and fees are excessive in berlize
  2. the landing and taxi light plexi do collect ice in moderate icing conditions....use of the older GE icandscent doesnt seem to work well for melting off ice.....that portion is usually last to break off...maybe from fluid spread or changing alitude and temp..im not sure...but i landed at st george utah with a 2 or 3 in bulge over the light that my wife walked over and slapped it off....
  3. 160 mph?.......nah I know for a fact your airspeed indicator read zero
  4. he will be headed that way soon, flatbed trailer and gas powered saws in hand....
  5. those leaking fittings are 3/8 common pipe tread....the only thing ive found that works is high temp pipe sealant...clean the treads with solvent and apply locktight "701"I think I used....let set up over night before starting engine
  6. i just have to LOL...40 years of flying and only injuries Ive suffered were from 2 ulta light engine failures in a row....those things have zilch glide ratio...i mean when the engine quits..you point the nose down at your feet....dont like all the obstructions, barb wire fences, ditches ,boulders etc...close your eyes cause the view isnt getting any better.USAA doesnt have any actuarial data on ultralight death and injuries cause im betting they are not reported.
  7. two probabilities...battery is failing...perform load test or solonoid located next to battery is failing....perform jump and replace as indicated
  8. arent big kate and big annie the ones responsible for little timmy being so little?
  9. this situation occurred exactly to me at ksac where ATP does a lot of slower 172 training.Because of the speed difference tower gave the right of way to the lower in my case cessna and ordered me to slow it up and a 360 for spacing which i complied reducing power, speed brakes out and dirtingup as much as possible.Plus these are student pilots like I once was...
  10. isnt it chromemoly?
  11. too bad about the prop strike....if it hadnt occurred his price at 133 k is spot on considering paint and especially avionics....i would not let that prop strike stop me though...I would get a quote for a tear down....remove the prop and dial the crank (if out of concentric move on,find out what happened to old prop...was it saved ,thrown away...ie did it go to a prop shop for a trade in?Lycoming SB regarding tear down recomendations is very conservative. and as has been noted not regulatory.....offer would be based on that prebuy...plus the prior damage history..the gear up....
  12. bromine compounds yield reddish to brownish colored deposit depending on phase...looking at his pic and color of the deposits made me think of Busch podcast.
  13. I had to replace my #1 placed 2014 in july.#2 dates to 2018 ...failure of #1 was expected as there was a noticable difference in crank speeds (I try to alternate between #1 and #2 everyother flight. Both batteries have full time batteryminders set up for concordes...since one of the batteries is simply a backup....i felt comfortable having two different age batteries. The #1 finally suffered an internal short to 0 volts during engine start....switching to #2 ,immediate cure but than I no longer had the backup of #1.
  14. same here..down 200 bucks
  15. it depends of course and what your used to flying and total experience level....before my Bravo i had maybe 10 or so rental hours in a J decades prior....I think it was about 50 hrs in the Bravo that i felt confident....of course some aircraft ,like a Pitts S1S ,i never relaxed on landings....ever...it was always a high anxiety moment
  16. the one on my Bravo is a standard two layer black on clear acrylic plastic...engraving is on underside removing first black layer and exposing clear.Than a gold paint is applied to letters .....a good sign shop should have no problem reproducing...ie like removing ex wife/gf when aircraft was purchased
  17. i had an MT 2 blade on a Husky with no issues.....
  18. well John ,sounds like you have all your ducks in a row...too bad about the wife at the time nixing the bravo purchase..its been the perfect all season traveler for us.I have a lot of time in Lakes..loved their handling but not docking...ended up with a husky on amphibs...talk about slow boat ..
  19. "wit de loook and feeel of real coorinthian leader...
  20. THX
  21. to answer question Ive flown 6 out of 7 and would have to join the pilot program for the marine corps for #7
