  1. That answers that, but with a GTN 750 and GI 275, I'm willing to be it's drawing more than four amps anyway.
  2. What about running the avionics while the BatteryMinder is plugged in and charging? Will it produce enough juice under the load to keep it charged?
  3. The few times I flew into KNEW I used Flightline and received great service. Nice facilities and right next door to the magnificent old Art Deco terminal building from 1934.
  4. My first instinct would have been a Brasher call.
  5. Wow, the good old days of flying in California with AirCal, PSA, Hughes Airwest and Western.
  6. I'm short and sit with the seat all the way up. With the original equipment the shoulder belt would dig into my neck and I couldn't reach down to switch the tanks when it was snug. That prompted me to get the Alpha belts, which worked out great because I can move around freely. But I agree that the reel on the passenger side sticks out way too far and is a nuisance.
  7. Sounds like he already has the Alpha units based on his description. The J's that came out of the factory with inertial reels have them in the floor.
  8. We had this solution installed two years ago and it's all ripped and chewed up on the bottom from placing crap in the luggage area. At the next annual we'll have it removed and replaced with the one that adheres to the door.
  9. I contacted you a couple of years ago to see if you were taking on new clients and you said you were swamped. My partners and I can sure use a guy with your experience, has your status changed any?
  10. I've been using Phil for years and am lucky enough to be selected for continued service beyond December (at least that's what he told me). There have always been good write ups here about Daytona Beach Aircraft, which specializes in Mooney's. Premier at KFXE is also a service center, but is not cheap.
  11. Briefly looked at this when I was at overhaul, but the posts here set me straight.
  12. I remember the days when it took over a month for results to show up on Google.
  13. Panda. Eats, shoots and leaves.
  14. A beautiful sight if there ever was one.
  15. There are so many postings here that it leads me to the conclusion that there is no simple, one size fits all solution or technique to this problem. The only thing that I can add is that the age and wear on the engine could have something to do with it because prior to my overhaul it was a bitch getting her to turn over during a hot start. After the overhaul she turns right over no matter how hot she is or how long she has been sitting, even if only ten minutes for a fuel stop.
  16. I was going to say something about that. Each mini that I purchased resulted in my buying a new RAM cradle. Sigh.
  17. I just received our renewal today and the policy went up by $88 over last years. It's still not cheap at $2,900, but I was expecting at least a 10-20% increase based on the stories I've been reading.
  18. When you acquiesce to her wishes, you should demand that the name of the boat be "I Said No".
  19. If available, please post a picture of the panel from those early days of ownership, along with the current one.
  20. My audio panel has playback capability and there have been a few times when I reply "Standby for read back" as I replay the instructions, sometimes more than once. Having been based at Concord for a few years, I know just how confusing the runway and taxiway structures can be, especially when approaching the airport VFR. The one instruction that you got which doesn't make sense is "Cross 32L" because it doesn't intersect taxiway Alpha.
  21. If you feel the whole seat is leaning, you may want to check the bellcrank on the bottom for a crack. My partners and I experienced the same symptom a few months and when looking at the bottom of the seat noticed this crack, which is fairly common. The fix involved a weld and extra reinforcing straps.
  22. I'm also wondering if it can be done and am replying to subscribe to this thread.
  23. I was thinking the same, that the airplane is assembled around the flap indicator.
  24. One of the items on the first list was an intermittent Autopilot Sonalert. I've been experiencing that myself in my '83 J, were you eventually able to resolve it?
  25. I can't recall exactly when, but I'd venture to say about six years ago. I'm not sure where the shop obtained the parts, but I do remember being told that the cable is threaded through the belly from the flap/trim mechanisms up to the console without having to do any work from the interior, that is, the console was not removed or opened up.
