  1. It worked for me just now. 7:44 AM Pacific Time, 3-6-2013 Ron
  2. What is the conflict on the 337? This may save some of us the headache also. Thank You Ron
  3. Remember the cost of a turbo will be higher per hour. But you get there faster. The real question is: What is the cost on say a 10,000 mile trip? Ron
  4. I learned to fly at KSNA in 1972. It deffinitely has changed a lot. I go to KFUL when I need to go to Oange County now. I just don't like the real busy airports anymore. Fullerton can be a challenge to find in the afternoon due to the haze. An Instrument approach can make this much easier. Ron
  5. There is supposed to be a place in Lock Haven Penn, that I have heard about. I have not needed these repairs yet, so I do not have first hand info. Lock haven instruments ?? Ron
  6. Laser, get the laser tie downs and jack points. I have also used straps and attached to the gear to help hold the plane in the wind on my F. Welcome to the Mooney community. Ron
  7. I had an engine quit in a C310 just before roatation, Pulled both throttle's to idle, I should have bent the throttle's pulling back so hard. The rocker tower of the valve broke, engine ran on the ground, but only about 1700 rpm. 5 to 10 seconds later, gear would have been in transit. Ron
  8. Byron I am going to install non slip rubber under my carpet and try that. This would be the same stuff used in the bathroom to make rugs not slip on the floors. Ron
  9. Piper Seminole is the only other Turbo 4 cylinder that I can think of. 1980 and 81 I think. I personally like the TN option and wish I had one in my F. Use it when going high, Don't use it for short local flights. Turbo's cost money to keep the maintanance up. Ron
  10. You should have 2 pitot/static drain in your plane, 1 under the left wing near the fuselage, and the other under the belly near the tail access panel. Try opening these to drain your lines. Welcome to the list. Ron
  11. MJC When I was 14 my Dad had a C model. Dad, Mom, Brother and Me flew in it to the East Coast. I was a lot smaller then. The plane was packed very carefully and as light as possible. We did make this work. And yes with 2 small children it is a challenge not to bring to much stuff. You have a very nice C model now, you have done the engine, paint and interior if I remember correctly. The radios are good. If you get another plane, You will need to do some of these improvements again. I have an F model, other than the extra 5 inches and 64 gallons of gas, the gain is not great for you. I have a usefull load of approx. 675#'s with 64 gallons of fuel. Good Luck on your decision. Ron
  12. At 3:30 today at 3500' 50 miles to the west of Tioga it was 0c. It is cold out there. From Santa Ynez to Mammoth, he probably is further south if he could go VFR. North over Tioga is an airway, but you must be higher. Tioga is almost 10,000 ft. Hopefully he will make it. This is not to far from where Steve Fossit went down. Ron
  13. It has been recommended on the MAPA list do not reduce the throttle after takeoff, there is an enrichment made at wide open throttle only, this may help until you are at cruise. Ron
  14. It is a lot of turns on my 69F. I have not counted, but wen you think you should be done, you are only half way. Pull the breaker, put the gear switch down and push the lever all the way in. Make sure that you are moving the lever the right way, you might try moving the lever the opposite direction, some one could have moved it already. I had a radio shop that reinstalled the interior and moved the lever the wrong way, when I hit the gear switch, the crank grabbed my headset cords. I was not happy and very concerned about the gear operating correctly. I was not to interested in all the new goodies at that point. All ended well. Ron
  15. I had a mechanic put teflon Tape on my fuel transducer, a year later, we had to remove the fuel controller and have it rebuilt to remove the teflon tape debrii. I had an engine that on takeoff was fine, about 400 feet in the air, it felt like the pistons were swapping holes, do a runup and it was great, fly again it was fine, 2 or 3 flights later, chaos again. We checked everything. Doing the baby bottle test would have shown a Dave's fuel divider problem. Ron
  16. This plane is not to far from me. I have seen the ads on the local airport walls. She also advertises that she is an Instructor. The paint scheme is not my favorite and the radios appear aged in the pictures. You could call and get more info, aircraft times, engine times, have the tanks been resealed, prop with a B hub, or eddy current, have the landing gear pucks been replaced lately. It also may be interesting to know how long that she has owned the plane. Ron
  17. It does not look right to me, on my F with the stock windshield my front strap goes under the gear doors and the back strap is long enough. The front strap has a snap on each side and then a short strap to connect the 2. The rear strap has a bungee cord built into the cover and pulls tight there. It has been a year, since I put mine on though. Could you have reversed the straps? Fly Safe Ron
  18. Looks like a long 1 day trip, if the fuel stop works out well. Ron
  19. The dimensions will be very close to your Acclaim. Probably about a foot shorter, the wing and tail are about the same. There could be some minor changes with the wing tips or accessories. Ron with a 69F
  20. I have the PS Engineering 8000B and am very happy with it. I have not used the Garmin box. I have the ability to hook up the cell phone to it, XM radio, (automaticallyy mutes for ATC) seperate music jack input also. My plane was wired for stereo headphones. Ron
  21. I am interested in this project as well. Like most, it will depend on cost to purchase and install. I would think that the cowl's for the C and G would be very similar to the cowl's for the E and F. I think that the structure is very similar, only the induction portion would be different. Another variation that may exist is the planes with the old dog house baffle system. Would this require a different cowl design? Ron
  22. Craig I put a check in the mail. Thank You for this web site. Ron
  23. Craig I am in also. It would appear that many will contribute. Please post the address to mail a check to. Ron
  24. My 69 has the quadrant. I belive all models changed in 69. I like the quadrant best myself. Ron
  25. I always switck tanks in the air 20 to 30 minutes prior to landing. This will be also the tank used for takeoff, weather I fill the tanks again or not. Ron
