  1. Lets just be painfully honest here. You are not a spring chicken. Dumping that much money in a toy when all it is gonna take is one trip to the Dr and you are grounded for life is not the best decision. Keep it the way it is, fly it, and take the $50k and blow it on vacations and such. Not trying to deflate you, but think about it from an unemotional viewpoint. The next guy will love you for it, but what will the actual time you get to use it? Go the doc and find out what the reality of your health is before blowing all that cash. That's my take.
  2. Any videos of these in motion? I like that they have the rear lights now. Any idea if they are brighter than the other Orion 650s?
  3. Buy a new switch on Digi-key with the associated slip on button. $10.
  4. Absolutely not. What’s on the form is what is required. I would find another MD.
  5. What the.... so flying a dirty plane IS faster!
  6. It would probably be reason #1 on her list, so I don't think it could be hidden. But is grounds to claim I am destitute!
  7. I’ll pile on the gravy...... I’ve had several big ticket, and a couple small ticket transactions with Chase. Nothing but top shelf support. I usually send him a message when I am looking for something. Only if he doesn’t sell it do I look elsewhere.
  8. Word I don’t keep a balance sheet of pay/owe on my plane. If I did, I would have to sell it.
  9. Very few of us can. As hobby pilots, a slim margin actually use it for business purposes or other capital gains needs. It’s a frivolous expenditure for those with disposable incomes.
  10. My shop just pushed out a Cessna 152 from the avionics bay; $35k in avionics, including a G3X 10”. I looked at it and shook my head. The owner was tickled pink. Why? Because he could, had the cash, and loved the plane. Harley riders do it, boat owners do it, big truck owners do it, sport car owners do it and generally none of them expect a monetary “return on investment”. That guy is gonna grin ear to ear for years flying that plane. Sounds like a good expenditure to me.
  11. No doughnut? I’m out.
  12. Well, we all know Mooney drivers are obsessed with speed right? This guy took it the wrong way me thinks.
  13. Mine disconnects on occasion but comes back within a few seconds. It also gives an audible annunciation it disconnected. No clue why or any rhyme or reason either. Just random.
  14. https://tulsaworld.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/tulsa-pilot-arrested-after-100-pounds-of-meth-found-on-plane-at-jones-riverside-airport/article_b6377272-8768-11eb-950e-97ce4ef21612.html Mooney driver running crank. Some will do anything to fly.
  15. What..... y’all don’t tire shine your plane every week too? Mequires Wet Look tire shine has all the rampies lookin’. You know it’s legit when the line guys says, “nice tires, sir!”
  16. I wouldn’t fly with it looking like that second pic. Really. Consider waiting. I have a WX10A and I consider it mandatory equip here in the south between March and Nov.
  17. They are on my annual squawk list. Not sure why you wouldn’t replace it. Is it a PITA to get to or something?
  18. Nobody cares about that noise in BHS. They want your dollars. Period. Passport, cash for the fees, VAT of anything that looks like it’s expensive. Done. Been to,BHS many times the past 4 years in my plane. Never been asked for anything plane related ever. They don’t care. Did I mention they want your money, cash preferred!
  19. Buying BK general aviation gear is about as smart as marrying a stripper hooked on meth who has three kids from 5 different men. There is just no good reason to invest in them anymore. Some things need to just go away. BK is one of them.
  20. I have an envelope in a secure place. Every time I finish a page, I photocopy it and put in the file. I also take a pic with my phone which saves iCloud.
  21. I don’t do eLogs. The nostalgia of paper entries and the inability to lose it from a data failure keeps me old skool. I’m about half way into mine with 600 hours.
  22. I’ve never been to OSH, but go the SnF since I’m so close. Couple of tips: buy your tickets before hand one the website and make sure to the get EAA discount. Understand that it’s a target rich environment for food, so expect stupidly high prices. Bring your own drinks and snacks if you can. if you like homemade root beer, buy the way too expensive refillable cup option. You Will be surprised how much you drink. If you are in the market for parts, walk all the vendors before buying the first “good deal” you walk up on. Shop each one, then go back. It takes me at least one full day to walk the vendors. bring your own chairs for the air shows. Simply not enough wings to hide under from the viewing area. expect it to rain at least once or twice on you. if you are a veteran, Check in at the vets booth. You can get water and snacks for free during the show. it will be hot. Hats and sunscreen are a must. if you need XC oil, it simply does not get any cheaper than the case prices from the Philips tent. I don’t use Shell, so I don’t know what they do. Same with CamGuard, but also shop around the vendors. It won’t be the cheapest at the Camguard booth. if you are a home builder, you’ll prob never leave that area honestly. The classes run continuously. that’s about all I can think of. I always drive down and rent a VRBO somewhere in the area. With three kids and the wife, we have too much crap to bring to fly.
  23. We could use this narrative for all the various scourges humans face. The “flu”, cancer, drug addiction, heart disease and on and on. If you indeed had someone close die from this particular ailment, that is unfortunate. But as a society, we have let hysteria overwhelm our emotions and and reason, in turn, triggering an unhinged and disproportionate reaction to what was once normal human factors of life. Lots of things kill us. But in this particular case, the response is not commensurate with the problem. Stopping society for something 99% of people survive is nothing more than not letting a crisis go to waste by the politico. I, along with hopefully many, chose to live our lives without the big machine screaming “wolf!” All day long. I have had it, my wife had it and two kids had it. Four of my coworkers have it right now. Many more professional and personal acquaintances have as well. I am no longer drinking the cool aid Gixxer. The national response has cause more damage than the virus as done. In this case, the antidote was more harmful than the ailment. So without reservation, I encourage all people to stop playing to the narrative and get back to life. We are done being pawns on the politico chessboard. Seriously. We are tired of all the Chicken Littles.
  24. sARs Covid 19 no longer factors into anything I do. Now that the “science” is out, right? And we know what it does and the real mortality rates instead of chicken little talking heads of the agenda outlets, it has no impact on my decision making at all. so, yes, I will go and have a blast. I feel bad for the rest of the folks though who cannot get past the narrative being pushed and become hermits and germaphobes.
