  1. My understanding was that Garmin had a batch from the early servos that had issues. Best I can tell, they tightened up their product.
  2. An air show where pilots cannot go? That’s like a football game where you can’t drink beer and eat overprice garbage food. What’s the point of going?
  3. All depends on the Open Pilot Warranty. My IA has over 1k hours, multi-Inst rated and does not meet my OPW for a Piper Lance. I spoke with my broker and basically, I would have to put him on the insurance and the rate would go up substantially. He owns a Twinky and an Arrow. Go figure..... So I fly with him, as the juice is not worth the squeeze.
  4. Some people will do anything for good coleslaw I suppose.
  5. Location? I’m mildly interest as well.
  6. My IA will fly with me post MX without reservation. I told him that if he won’t test fly it with me, the job is not done. I consider it a checks and balance because he has skin in the game.
  7. Power, water, gas on site and stubbed off?
  8. With all that drama, could you not just put a Flightstream 210 on the 650 with the G3X? Then it would push all the FIS B TIS B data and since it has ADHRS, also feed the map stuff to the iPad. Anyone have a Flightstream installed WITH a G3X?
  9. I would assume this is a 77CuFt tank? Brand, tank size, regulator, new/used?
  10. File IFR. You can always cancel in the air and ask for FF since you ar already on a discreet code.
  11. I fly in JAX airspace weekly. I’ve never had anything but the best service from them.
  12. I retained my JPI with the G3X install. I simply did not want all the eggs in one basket. If you have a fully functioning JPI system, I say keep,it. You are gaining nothing by going EIS.
  13. And never will until they buy out someone who has already brought the screen to market. At this point, BK just needs to stay out of GA. They have pissed in too many Cheerios to be relevant anymore.
  14. That was my understanding as well. It will take a standard plan, but if you try to push the departure or load an approach from the ipad, it cannot push it to the navigator and you have to go into the nav box to load up the IFR stuff. Or in other words, if you re used to using a iPad to select the approach and stuff from the ipad, you can’t with the G3X installed. You have to touch the nav box to do so.
  15. I use my ham radio as my home device. I have no need, and it’s illegal to transmit, to aircraft at my home. But I do enjoy listening to the local traffic coming and going.
  16. The FAA would have no meaningful leg to stand on. A piece of paper is not going to change the safety of the product. There is no magical stamp that somehow unlocks an engine to run it. And if it was the only fuel on the market, its a clear antitrust issue to begin with. Yea, I'm not worried about it at all.
  17. Free- I didn't get that impression from Braly. But I did go WTF? STC to run a fully 100LL"fungible" gas as he put it. That engine has no idea its NOT running 100LL, so whats the STC for?
  18. I applaud Gami for getting a product approved. But if it’s gonna be rammed down our throats, and the only fuel available via banning/removing 100LL, I simply will not buy an STC. If it is truly a 1:1 replacement, the profit is in the product sales and absolutely should not require a paperwork shuffle for $$$$$. I believe that’s a class action lawsuit in the making. You cannot remove a product then force another product from a sole source without repercussions. That’s like DOT banning all other cars and licensing Ford to be the only car producer, then making you pay a $$$$ application fee to buy the only car on the market. In short, F you, I won’t do it. I’ll pump it because I have to, or make a fake placard and fake it till I make it. It’s that simple.
  19. I looked at the product at OSH. I like the concept, but honestly, the UI looked like some of the first digital displays in EFBs. I’d call it the “classic” look. Put another way, the paint was flashy, but the interior was dated. I think it would get more traction with EFB integration or better collaboration with JPI. I’m a soft-pass on it until I like the presentation.
  20. I talked with a Garmin sales manager at OSH and he was pretty clear; there will not be a trade in on GTN series for the Xi upgrade. He suggested talking to retailers/installers about trade ins.
  21. If it’s for the plane, I’d say it goes with it. Extra parts, covers, cowl plus and so on. I would not consider the tug a part of the deal though. But, you could always ask or make a reasonable offer on it. It’s definitely not rude or uncouth to believe they go with the plane.
  22. Not really. My Tesla mitigated my need to actually drive.
  23. Scott once we get there, should we expect decent conditions or does the outlook trend towards unsettled weather? thx
  24. Disagree all you want, that’s your prerogative. But the elephant in the room is not invisible. The average life span in the US of a male is 70 years old. If you want to act like a Karen because the truth is offensive, I really don’t have any more time to entertain you.
  25. I look at it from ROI. If I spend $50k, I want to use it for XX years. But yea, even if he gets a year out of it, if it makes him grin ear to ear for that year, its worth it to him I suppose. I wouldn't do it myself, but if I wanted to buy his plane, I'd be eggin' him on all day!
