  1. You're unlikely to get a response from Garmin on this site. Might want to try posting this on BeechTalk.
  2. Guys: I very much do appreciate the feedback, and these are good ideas to solve other problems, but my question was not "how do I make the air less hot" or "what can I use instead of the heater." (I have blankets in the plane too.) The specific question was, what might I use to direct where the air is going. Any ideas? I might just buy some random pieces of metal and plastic and start experimenting. Was hoping someone might have had the same crazy idea as me.
  3. Thanks for the thoughts, everyone, but the aforementioned chief passenger is not going to accept a solution that is basically "less heat." I really meant it when I said I was looking for a way to aim the flow of air.
  4. My chief passenger likes it as warm as possible. Meanwhile I'm down to just a T-shirt. Trust me, that fuel selector gets HOT.
  5. That stuff on the belly? It ain't oil!
  6. Oh no. I'm turning into the crazy mods guy aren't I. First the ceiling light panel, now this. Pressing on... Coming from trainer Pipers, I'm actually quite impressed how well my Mooney puts out heat. It gets nice and toasty in there, which my passengers appreciate more than me, and my trusty Sensorcon helps make sure it's safe. However, I have some notes. The vent shoots hot air horizontally right over the top of the fuel selector. Switching the fuel tanks every 30 minutes requires manipulating a scalding-hot metal lever. It would also be nice to be able to aim the heat up a bit, especially toward the copilot's seat. Has anyone ever tried coming up with an aimable vent solution for this duct? @DonMuncy, may I bribe you?
  7. For whatever it's worth (?), the plane I bought last year came with a GTN 750 installed in 2016. I've had no problems using the D-> button at all. All the other buttons work too.
  8. I'm not that concerned with finding parts ... it's the installation I'm trying to figure out.
  9. Someone asked about the light panel and he also said the whole interior is gone earlier .... but @Chrigi let me know if anything for ceiling-mounted light switches remains!
  10. Can anyone recommend a creative, skilled interior plastic/fiberglass wrangler who might be willing to take something like this on? Or who can at least consult?
  11. Not sure about that. My Rosens are never in the way of that panel (if it was there) and they can be moved out of the way if need be.
  12. Prices have been going up. Won't be many M20J options at that price point, and even so, you might be happier with an M20C. You'll have more choices, more buying power, and they might be better cared-for, too.
  13. There's at least one other '80s J with the same configuration...
  14. I've been thinking similar things since the G5s and OAT went in. Rarely do I think, "yeah that sounds right." Most of the time my reaction is, "there's no possible way that's right." And it's almost always hotter than I expect, never cooler. I need to figure out where mine is actually installed. Could it be breathing hot exhaust in the slipstream maybe?
  15. Doesn't hurt to ask first. But since I have it, I don't want to turn it off! Give me that Cherokee so I don't have a choice.
  16. This has been a very helpful thread. I've been worried I would need to send mine in but there's a chance this will do the job. I've been getting a transient, unpleasant yawing motion pulling the nose left because of asymmetric deployment. The right wing is delaying a few seconds before popping out, while the left one immediately deploys.
  17. Sorry, I should have included green font.
  18. You can do that?! When the YD light is off, it makes me sad.
  19. Went up today and tried 2500 RPM at 6500. MP was 23.7. CHT: 355/362/357/346. 11.8 GPH. 139 KIAS, 159 KTAS, 157 KT GS (right quartering headwind at 7 KT). The OAT seemed to be bathed in sunlight: 82ºF indicated, with surface temperatures around 50ºF.
  20. It may not be a huge difference, but I can feel it working if I lightly set my feet on the rudder pedals. One time I forgot to switch it off before final approach and could feel it actively trying to smooth things out. (I shut it off and landed without, of course.). My GFC 500 flies straight and true, like it's on rails. I should go rent the Cherokee I used to fly that has it, but without the yaw damper, so I can compare.
  21. Premier is an MSC, at FXE. They did the pre-buy on my J in July. There's been a few things that came up since, but not showstoppers. For the most part they were right-on and pretty easy to deal with. Cost a little more, but most MSCs do. I would use them again if I found myself in Florida.
  22. Yep. I went with all four servos and would do so again.
  23. By sheer luck, someone just offered for sale a used DAC GDC31 on BeechTalk this morning. Better get in touch quickly if you're interested. Seller reports it was used with a GNS 530W and KFC 150. You'll need to source the annunciator and switch separately, however. https://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=191283
  24. Make sure you're on @jgarrison's email list for new arrivals, if you're not already. https://www.gmaxamericanaircraft.com
