  1. I think the 540 is 12.5 ish and the 9000 can be added for 3k. Great deal!
  2. The 225 is really nice. We’ve also seen 1200-1400 hr servo life which is better than most.
  3. With three iPads and four iPhones in the house that use the lightning connector I was starting to think it was the new world standard...kind of like SAE sizes (what type of archaic machinery could possibly use SAE ;))
  4. I don’t trust the BK company to do the right thing regarding the ongoing maintenance of their systems... 8 years ago we needed the AP control head tested trying to chase down a problem. Unit tested perfect. Repair bill $2200. A good friend had the same type of crontrol unit test a couple years ago, again no problems $3000. My guess is when the 230 is sent in to be checked (if no repairs are needed) the fee will be over $5k. IMO BK will require the 230 to be sent to them. Down time is important. Trying to sort out if it’s a servo problem, wiring problem, control unit, AP adapter, or AI indicator can take some time ($$$). However, the Garmin fanboy (I’m probably included), might be able to spool up BT and solve my gfc problem in 30 mins on Sunday afternoon with a response from Garmin. Digital connections from start to finish will minimize troubleshooting time...again IMO.
  5. FIFY I’m actually drawn to the SR22. Not sure why but $630k feels like a bargain for a new plane these days. I can’t understand why almost all the used ones are fully loaded units. I’d take the base model plus TKS myself.
  6. Curious if two G5’s are connected and both set on AI mode if they can simultaneously show the localizer and GS?
  7. I think that would require another external waas antenna although if it was considered a second hsi install you might not need to.
  8. Planning on the 3100 or a gfc500?
  9. Overall impressions: Not just an IRAN but a top quality overhaul including many new parts. IMO this is 30k worth of value with the new prop. I’m just not sure about the airframe. It’s been sitting a lot over its lifetime but the PO have painted it twice recently (94 and 2009). That might mean it spent some time outside or the owner just wanted to keep it looking nice. I’d have a service center carefully look over the airframe on this one. If the airframe checks out and you are prepared to put in some real money to catch up on maintenance this might make you a great plane.
  10. It sounds like to me the overhaul/gov/propeller might have been partially funded by the insurance company. I have no problem with that as long as hoses, engine mounts, etc were replaced as well. If the overhaul was done a year or two ago I feel it is a strong asset. Has the plane been rotting outside or in a hangar?
  11. As DXB said the 50 is the same except it uses twice the panel space. The Trutrak is the cheapest option. 7k and try to sell your old system for 2-3k.
  12. With a 3 month and 2 year old the only way I’m going to find that smooth cool air is to park a Malibu in the hangar...yet I still find myself on the hunt for the perfect condition K.
  13. I wonder if a 625 and a 106 cdi could be added to these planes along with 3100 AP integration would be possible.
  14. The 345r w/gps is probably your best bet for adsb. The problem with upgrades to the g1000 is the way it was certified to the airframe. Mooney and Garmin have to work together to put something like an NXi upgrade in.
  15. This is just my opinion... Make a decision on tks vs AC vs max UL/speed. This would narrow down or potentially open up (looking at mid bodies K’s and J’s) the planes on your radar. I would much rather have the 3 blade prop on 94-99 vintage O’s vs the 2 blade on the 2000-04’s. Most have been replaced but two of the three above have not. Don't pay a huge premium for the O2’s panels. The 225 does not integrate as well with the newer PFD’s and the Mortiz gauges are not desirable IMO. Also while I like the 430/530 combo they are far from cutting edge. i guess what I’m saying is open your search to older Ovation and Bravo aircraft and keep looking.
  16. That is max FF for TO and climb.
  17. Just make sure the FF is set properly. I think Joe set his in the 36+ gph range. The performance would be absolutely amazing, however you really need to monitor the cylinder health...the Acclaim is hard on top ends.
  18. I would call AAA as mentioned before. You really need to pin down what your mission is and your budget (purchase price and yearly). Having said that I do feel the long bodies provide a lot of value. Which planes are under contract so we know which ones you have been looking at?
  19. Fuel leaks can easily start well away from the wing root and leak (fumigate) back into the cabin. Normally this is evident when the plane is closed up for awhile. If it’s strong enough to smell during flight I’d have it looked at.
  20. Dale, congratulations on your new plane. I’ve always liked Fred and his team down in southern FL. I know what you mean about the rudder forces. 16 years ago I had my first flight in a sr22. At that point I only had 152 seat time and needed a stronger leg. My gear does not retract well at 106kts either, my arm isn't strong enough...
  21. Welcome to MS! It’s a great time to be looking for a K. Lots of rockets, a few 252s, and a couple encores and 262s.
  22. I would think just having the shop do the rest of the annual right now before the engine gets back would be a good option. Do you not trust the shop to do a proper annual?
  23. For just the muffler I’d guess 700-850 especially when you add shipping both ways. From what I see in the pictures it looks more like a complete rebuild of the muffler vs a patch job. However, also understand there is a chance if you send the complete system other parts might be really thin in areas...
  24. So sad if in fact a vac/AI failure was a contributing factor.
  25. Check the wiring to the SOS. Some ignition switches do not have the proper terminals for SOS activation. Disconnect the starter and listen for the SOS. When you let go of the key the engine fires off both mags bypassing the start circuit on the right? mag.
