  1. My guess is a shop that charges $30k for a gfc500 install would charge the same amount for a gtn750 install. They are set up for 100k panel overhauls and don’t deal with people worried about billable hrs. I would not be using a shop like that, but I’m not in the same income bracket as Don.
  2. Looks like the only option is for the second screen to be a mfd/eis screen. This is why the g5 is required for backup.
  3. JPI sets the redline on the top of the range. In your case 29.9 would be fine but 30.0 is an emergency, engine falling apart range.
  4. I’m in the exact same situation as you. I have a 430w, stec 50, and an Aspen screen. I truly feel when the 3100 comes out along with the pfd software update it will be an amazing combo. IMO three things need to happen for Aspen to remain competitive. First they need an inexpensive adsb in box that displays on their screens and portable units ($700 or less). Second they need to include for free or very reasonable unlocks for all options (3-500 each). Lastly they need to price the max system right right in between dual g5’s and the 10 inch g3x.
  5. The certified kit includes the LRU kit so the comparative price is $5400. The real question is if the certified price listed on the website is a dealer list price or a normal selling price. If it’s dealer list there might be another 15% wiggle room on the $10k. Keep in mind Dynon adds $4k or more to the experimental prices to cover the certification. Edit-the items in green are included w/ the certified kit.
  6. You’re probably right. I was looking at the g3x info.
  7. To be fair you need to add the $1500 LRU but it’s amazing how many aircraft they certified this for including an AP, EM, etc.
  8. I emailed my shop a few days ago and haven’t heard back. Yours is probably higher because you need to have a g5/gad29 installed as well. So my guess is 12k for the g5/gad/3 servo gfc500 and 6-8k to install.
  9. With the lower prices of the g3x I think many people are going to dig really deep and put in the gfc500. They’re going to sell a ton of those AP’s...
  10. From a quick read it looks like the only reason to buy the 510 for the 175/375/g3x is to do wireless updates. Everything else is already included like two way communication with ForeFlight.
  11. No, just direct them when you keep the ki256 going.
  12. Can’t ... believe ... you called it perfectly. Nice, if you didn’t read the other thread I’m busy stuffing my face with crow.
  13. No remote com (at least this week). But it will control the 225/255 not sure abou the SL30/40.
  14. I have a feeling Garmin might expand the 175/375 into nav/com territory in the future.
  15. Eating crow... This could destroy other companies in the gps/nav/com and pfd market.
  16. You might be able to talk one member into flying it over, increasing your fuel capacity, and adding a pee tube for one low price.
  17. If your interfacing it with a 440 or Garmin GTN/GNS you need the gad29 which is more work to install and $3k for the hardware. If you have an SL30/255 you can bypass the GAD adapter. I think 7.5-8k is pretty normal for a dual g5 install.
  18. Sometime, not real soon, I’m going to make the opposite trade. I have a feeling it will take as long to find a really nice RV as it does a Mooney.
  19. Probably a new 450 to replace my 430w and a 665 because I own a yet to be installed 660.
  20. Well I’ve attended many times over the last 35 years and I’m embarrassed to say I would not recognize the main gate. I always slip in the secret way. If you tip the volunteers $36ish between the yellow bus and blue trolley they will sneak you in.
  21. Wanted to update this thread with some info from BT. Evidently the cost to certify the avionics into different planes is higher than expected. They are increasing the STC cost for bonanza V tails to $4k. I’m not sure if this will increase again on future aircraft or not. Just an FYI for those waiting to see what happens for Mooney aircraft.
  22. They had a deal for the 9000, not sure if that’s still in play. However, it looks like the 322 is back in stock.
  23. Off memory I think your mags looked similar? You might want to IRAN your alternators (I think there’re rear mounted?). Problems like this are not fun on the road, like the middle of polar bear country
  24. Anyone know what the current capabilities are for showing traffic and weather on a txi from the 9000?
