  1. Does this count??:
  2. Well done Eric!
  3. I have a ‘69 F. My alert was going off in cruise when anthing less than full throttle was selected, it turned out to be an avionics nut that had fallen into the throttle position switch located under the throttle quadrant cover. Does not sound kike your issue but will throw it in for posterity.
  4. Im looking to go more of Marauder’s direction with the Aspens so this is temporary for now
  5. @M20C_AV8R Here is my panel layout: this kept my 6 pack in place and let me have the EDM in a convenient place. This deleted quite a few instruments; you can see some of the covers and there are more on the RT side out of view in addition to the nix'd strip gauges. Chris @Marauder (thanks again Chris!!!) was kind enough to hook me up with his old panels which I will use to upgrade. The EDM 900, as you can see, ...just... fits in landscape orientation where it is.
  6. Official MS kerfuffle thread observation snack
  7. + 1 on VFR FF. Flying on a southerly heading west of Jefferson City, MO when KC center flight following told me to climb as he had two targets east of me heading 270 on merge timing. I went up and very study looking A10 Warthogs zoomed underneath me.... could just about read the serial numbers on the pilots helmets... nice view though; wish I had video. Looked pretty much like this with a greener background that those things are **hard** to spot against. :
  8. Maybe Mooney could put this into production as their next model: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Supermarine-Aircraft-Mk26B/323223525242?hash=item4b419f977a:g:gu8AAOSw~89aj82o
  9. Hi @Bryan , I had an EDM 700 in my last plane but had a very limited function engine analyzer in my current M20F prior to installation. You might get things like power/grounding out of it but I don't think you will get much compatibility (guessing) out of the sensor wires, but at minimum you may be able to use them to pull cables through. I don't have the 201 windshield so did have the advantage of the stock, external avionics access panels so that probably helped a bit. If not taking the sweat equity route, I would go somewhere else besides the shop I used. Maybe somewhere familiar with mooney tanks and sending unit R & R for the CIES, and avionics shop familiar with EDM installation. If you can find the 2 in one, that is even better. I do have a couple of remaining issues. 1) manifold pressure runs all over the place, presumably due to the requirement for a snubber in the line due to the pulse intensity of the io360 being a little much for the EDM sensor to interpret and 2) my amp meter usually shows 0 and sometimes 1 or 2 for a brief moment before returning to 0. Still working that issue.
  10. I believe it was about 6.2AMU including the Cies fuel units. Way too much for the work I got.
  11. I added the standard shoulder belts, but would rather have that arrangement.
  12. Maybe a new mascot for the forum
  13. https://www.etsy.com/listing/586380830/vintage-mooney-aviation-print-patch-mint?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=aviation patches&ref=sr_gallery-1-9 Kinda looked neato.
  14. chrixxer, did you try the trim where I indicated?
  15. After I got back from intl travel and got the filter, notice that the metal is more consistent with a few "dust" particles (zoom way in to see) than flakes. I am getting a ferry permit to take the plane to get an annual elsewhere and have a jug pulled to allow borescope inspection. If it needs the rebuild we'll go Jewell. Also thanks to MS'er @Antares for the detail on his, similar experience over the phone.
  16. chrixxer, Here is a pic of my position. Finger indicates position of trim; I have the tail tied down and didn't want to move the trim while I'm doing maint. Mine is a '69 F, but YMMV. Stephen
  17. Found exactly the same thing in my "F" & I use Scranton's technique .... half in, half out.
  18. Thanks Antares; I'll follow up via PM.
  19. By way of update, while waiting for the engine story to play out, I used some parts on hand and removed my nose gear this weekend and installed a new upper truss that was bent by an over zealous tug driver. I have some feedback on that if anyone is doing one on an "F" model. Also, installed new shock disks. If I can get the main's done after work this week, I plan on getting a ferry permit and flying it Friday or Saturday to Jewell to have them remove and inspect the engine. Really want to thank all the MS'ers for your guidance and recommendations! To do's on the plane are: Engine (IRAN/Overhaul) leaning toward the latter since Jewell makes it much more affordable. Annual Redux IFR pito/static cert Rigging at DMAX Main gear rebuild (deferred).
  20. This is *very* good advice ...
  21. I was going to vote Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator, but if not that, probably seat pin.
