  1. Actually, I'd venture a guess that the CCPA is inspired by the EU GDPR, which created the precedent. I'd further guess that our German friends had much influence over the GDPR, being a very privacy conscious bunch. And yes, we're still trying to figure it out over here as well. Lots of abuse, too, with public information withheld from watchdog organizations being one form of it.
  2. A TurboPlus Intercooler is a nice addition to a stock K and on my list it is above the Black Magic semi-automatic wastegate. Not sure if the http://turboplus.com/documents/TAS-SAMPLE-STC-mooney-SA2154NM.pdfFAA STC has an EASA equivalent. I'm EU based but N-reg, so STC recognition by EASA doesn't matter to me.
  3. Not if you're not instrument rated it ain't...
  4. They could have probably faxed it to you, for $0.25 per page...
  5. I've heard that an AP/IA can download all that data without waiting for the CD to arrive. I'm still waiting on mine, but I am on the wrong side of the pond. Huh, out of likes for the day I am.
  6. For the record, there are "high voltage" (up to 20 volt) USB specs called USB Power Delivery (PD) Not that it is really high voltage, but will feel very differently on your tongue.
  7. Rigging up a good ethernet cable shouldn't even need an avionics shop, this is probably the simplest solution you could have hoped for. The EA-100 appears to be field upgradeable if your version is too low.
  8. The E5 will now do a HSI presentation.
  9. I am based at a non-towered field, but from what I recall, I'd get "#N to land" while on downwind / base for sequencing / awareness and then a confirming "cleared to land rwy 25". I'm sure others will chime in.
  10. Bearing or the "feathers" on the transducer rotating part gets into a harmonic at a specific rotation speed / fuel flow? I mean, it is the only mechanical part...
  11. I recall an accident like what you describe a few years ago, albeit on a P51. If memory serves, first solo flight of new owner during transition training. And not a newbie by any means. The NTSB report is available - it was back in 2007.
  12. But our K's can be different enough from the J, perhaps? Mine is a handful too, learned it in transition training before I was told I'm not supposed to do touch-and-goes. For those, the electric trim on mine just isn't fast enough - or perhaps I am too slow. And don't ask me about headset cables connected to a portable intercom getting tangled up in the trim wheel... It probably was the hardest I've ever had to work a control. That's why I gave a strong "like" to the idea of a supporting 2x4 behind the pilot seat.
  13. How does one tell the unit is the "latest and greatest"?
  14. Makes me wonder if the next big thing from Avidyne will be GTN slide-in replacements ;-)
  15. And what is an actual street price for an IFD440? Genuinely asking, can't find one on fleabay at the moment. @Jeev sells new IFD440s for $10700, so if @Alan Fox is willing to pay $6000 for a GNS430W that means a $4700 delta. BTW, @Avionics Source has used GNS430W's for $5875 (on sale, discounted from $6295), so I would guess that is a reasonable baseline. They also trade-in GNS430Ws into IFD440s for $5895, FWIW.
  16. And he can convert the PPI into a full annual ;-)
  17. On a total tangent - amazing how much money, downtime and outright waste (binning three good cylinders) a community such as MS can help save. Not to mention possible "infant mortality", run-in costs, and aggravation associated with the ordeal. Go Mooneyspace!
  18. First time I attempted to look under the panel in mine I ended up getting such back cramps I thought I won't be able to weasel my way out from under there, so I wholeheartedly sympathize...
  19. Just to be sure, in the post above and only in the post above, by "Avidyne" you mean "Dynon" and by "DA10" you mean "D10A", correct?
  20. Yeah, but only after you closed out the bug report with "works for me" a few times ;-)
  21. Doesn't the Mooney Service Manual specify a process for levelling the plane that involves jacking it up, or at least tilting it somewhat? If so, I would imagine that would be the responsibility of the avionics shop to perform / adjust as per the manual...
  22. I think PJ has a Rocket and was talking about a hypothetical E.
  23. No worries - at least I'm not the only one doing it (the IPC lookup thing) wrong. It sure looks like a M10 in the pictures, that's what I'd expect on a semi-decent tractor, so I'll go with that. Or buy both and say that the smaller one is for the motorcycle... ;-) Thank you!
  24. Sounds like a big "thumbs up" for Pacific Coast Avionics.
  25. @bd95r - can you, for the sake of it, confirm that you indeed do have the RS-232 INPUT from the IFD (if applicable) set to NONE?
