  1. Looks Great and Congrats! Sending you RayJay/Cowlilng PM
  2. Just installed CiES in my 76 F. My current ones were working fine but I installed the JPI EDM 900 along with some tank work and thought I should just go all the way. I have not picked up the plane or senders yet and likely will not get them until around the 1st. I also have a new oil cooler and the oil cooler mod being done (which is the delay in picking up the plane). I would sell you all 4 make an offer.
  3. Actually I do believe Mooney still has a ton of pressurized aircraft out there. They were (are) just different companies today TBM and Aerostar!
  4. All that was fine I thought! Just needed to be 4 minutes not 25
  5. The one thing I have not seen (which is unusual for this very generous crowd) is the offer to come have a look. Where are you located as I know a ton of folks here are happy to talk about and SHOW off their Mooney's. I have had a C and now a 76 F (with TN [RayJay Turbo Normalized). If you could find a E or an F with a LoPresti Cowl, 201 Windshield, TN and the right price (THAT WOULD BE THE TICKET - Sadly that combo does not exist). The next best would be a F model with upgraded 201Cowl, 201 Windshield and TN (which would almost make it TN - J), but priced lower than the same thing in a J. @Guitarmastergetting insight from a current F owner is much appreciated. What timeline on selling your F? By the way if his hits the market remember it has the long awaited Sabre Cowl And @Alan Fox may still have a highly modified F for sale which would be very desirable.
  6. I did not check the tail number just noted the color scheme and tip tanks.
  7. Were you just in Houston (IAH) at about 11:00 on Friday morning. If not one just like it at Atlantic Aviation at IAH.
  8. On the history channel there have been some great "Air Aces" and air battle scenes that have been recreated. One Vietnam air battle in particular is almost exactly what occurred in the big climax battle in Top Gun (out numbered and out gunned but the superior pilot won the day) with the major real difference being the aircraft involved.
  9. As I suspected this topic has brought up all the usual arguments for and against bladders with not much info on perceived or real safety. As I stated I had already made my decision and with the simple back log at the shop has given me to rethink the safety issue. @carusoam I have the fancy CIES sending units ready to be installed and the JPI EDM 900 recently installed. I will provide a PIREP when after the tank work and sending units are complete. However, to add a little fuel to the fire what if the bladder added no additional weight, cost the exact same as a reseal, resale value add-on was the same, and corrosion issues were the same?
  10. I certainly have seen many of the threads and emotion that surrounds it. I have been on the schedule to do a reseal but they have been back logged (weight and cost was part of my original decision to go reseal). Due to the challenges of scheduling I thought I would revisit the decision to reseal and the safety issue came to mind. I see there are almost never any fires associated with a gear up with the exception of a few off field gear ups that have happens on streets or highways where the wing has then clipped something to trigger a fire.
  11. I have seen a ton of people happy with both. I have searched to find anything related to any additional safety that bladders may or may not provide. It would seem logical that bladders may provide additional safety in a gear up situation (fire ignition from sparks etc), does anyone have any articles, info or opinions (I know there will be a few of those ... )
  12. Where is Piloto to calculate how many round trip tickets you can buy instead of buying a plane. But, in all seriousness it is all about budget vs control as everyone has said. I was in a partnership with the C and now solo on the F. I prefer sole, but my upgrades are slower than I would like them to be.
  13. Thanks and yes looking for mountain experience. Not many mountains in the Houston area. Most my flights are East but flat out west but flat. Looking to maybe spend more time in CO. I will check with the fbo and at DRO. Just wanted to give any MS'r some business if they were in the area.
  14. I am going to be in Pagosa Springs a few days this week if the weather holds out would like to find out if anyone knows a CFI better yet a Mooney CFI in the area.
  15. It is all about switches. Do they make mine better than his? Obviously joking.. i think i got one of his last sets and mine is a work in progress!
  16. I know it is odd to quote a western on an aviation site (and not quote top gun or some other aviation movie). This post just hit me funny is all and reminded me of this: Tombstone and Doc Holliday ("Ice Man") (Val Kilmer) busts down the door and Creek says "don't move" and then Doc says "by all means move". It is about 4:05 into the clip. I could not find a better clip of that scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD7bT_XptX8&t=12s Just makes me say by all means move. I think everyone should have panel like that or something similar. Sadly we all just do not have the budget (1st world problems and it is about the "pursuit of happiness" not the guarantee that everyone gets the panels of their dreams.)
  17. I had nearly the same thing happen but mine was on take off. I hit the switch to raise the gear and nothing. I continued out of the patter and area so I could evaluate. After several checks determined it was the breaker. Like you attempted to reset and it kept popping. Then during one check I realized my manual gear release knob was already in the release position. I then pushed the release knob back to position and "whala" I had normal gear operation again. What I realized is that somehow my head phone cords had gotten wrapped up with the release knob and that it released when I pulled on my head phone cord. I remained out of the area for a bit cycled the gear and aborted my scheduled trip (It was VFR and a beautiful day so less distracting than your day). I returned to my home airport asked ATC if I could go missed and they could confirm all gear was in position as I had a circuit breaker trip but had resolved the issue. Did the fly by and they confirmed all appeared from their vantage point to be normal. I did not declare emergency and they did not either so I did not have the fan fair on landing as you did. Once on the ground all inspections revealed normal and the last annual all normal. But, as you know an odd feeling thinking is my gear going to actually remain locked once I touch the runway.
  18. What year is your F (I assume the RayJay TN? I am routinely at 140ish KIAS in my F. I just had my G5's installed they also do a pitot static test (fixed a couple minor issues that really did not seem to impact my IAS) and last week's test flights at 70% hp at 3k was around 145 KIAS. I will be flying more this week to get more numbers and hopefully in a weeks to get to better altitudes to really see the results. Also, what setting are you running at those altitudes (%hp, LOP/ ROP, MP etc)
  19. Over the last couple years I have been watching the total number on controller seems to usually run between 100 and a 110 or all models. Today it is 109
  20. I just thought I would add my install that was completed over the weekend. 2 G5's and JPI EDM 900 a couple weeks ago. The left side only needs a new panel to get rid of all the covered holes ( I will do that when I do the GPS ETC )

  22. Just a quick thought. Can you do your flight in another bird (rent one with electric gear for example) and keep yours as a personal flyer?
  23. Just was going to clarify for you LoPresti is 16ish not 10ish PLUS LABOR and PAINT! Check out these post here David and Bob, I love the look and the two landing lights seem to make it pop (something about the symmetry of it). Looks like you are killing it!
  24. I have to say I do not Like! I LOVE IT! What kind of speed increase did you see and was there a difference in temps. I am seeing they are under 350 but were they lower or higher before? Also, mine is 76F with turbo. Was I told correctly about the no turbo thing?
