I am having higher CHT at ROP with my Dual Surefly Setup (310 HP Ovation). I posted somewhere else the same basic thing. I am running over 400 degrees on my hottest cylinder. LOP is great but sometimes I want to run ROP. I bought a fast plane to go fast! Just this last weekend I had roughly 1500 nm trip from Texas to Maine (then back on Monday) and had the chance really to look at all different levels of ROP and none were able to work due to cylinder head temps getting over 400! LOP was great at best all the way down to 10.1 gph at one point. Still LOP is CHT is hotter than when I was with simple mags.

I recently went with the dual Surefly Electronic Ignition on my Ovation with the 310 upgrade! 1. Has anyone else done this upgrade? As well as more specifically has anyone done it with the IO550? If so how long and what kind of numbers are you seeing best LOP and ROP operations. 2. A couple quick observations for those considering it. a. LOP operations are much deeper and smoother. LOP can run roughly 100 LOP smoothly (ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 11GPH)(and temps are solid (hottest CHT around EDIT (It is 350 CHT at 9.5k and 25 rpm and 20 mp) {prior was around 335 CHT at 35 LOP) b. Temp increases in all phases of flight (take off and in both ROP an LOP operations). (Most notable I am not liking what I am seeing in take off as I hitting on my hottest CHT 400 and in ROP operations (100 ROP) my hottest CHT around 380 (prior was around 350). c. Starts quick every time. YES, even hot start! My first thoughts (after only a few flights) if you fly nothing but LOP they are AWESOME! As I continue to fly and hopefully work out any issues on the ROP side I will update the group. I own a Mooney to go fast so I do like to fly ROP about 50% of the time. A couple of additions to answer some questions below: YES to harness (NEW MAGGIE). Inspected plugs and were near perfect so we did not change. YES and use GAMI injectors Fuel Flow is about 26 on departure.

You know how it goes! It is just the servo and therefore you should go with a whole new panel!

@Htmlkid I sent you a PM. I have one if you are looking for a replacement!

I would say the issue is you are in FULL Fire Breathing Dragon Mode. I never flew mine for long periods of time in full fire breathing dragon mode. Even though it says max continuous is 27.5 inches of MP doesn't mean you have to run it like that. Your oil pressure is right in line for how you are running the engine in my opinion. Oil temp 215, #3 Cyl 398 and TIT 1410 all indicate your everything in your engine while "are within spec" but on the higher side of normal would force you oil to be hotter and thinner thus pressure would be on the lower side. There are better experts than me, but I would run mine at 25 to 26 inches of MP (most of the time lean of peak) and my cyl temps were always under 350 usually like in the 300 - 330 range. Simply my experience in my old M20F with a RayJay Turbo (I am not sure of your brand of turbo in your J model which of course has the better cowl etc).

Here are my two mods I did in order on my 1963 C (pictures of the C are in my profile) Mod #1 - 1976 F model with turbo normalizer Mod #2 I Just did a couple months ago 1994 Ovation with 310 HP STC I couldn't resist. Your post was: Created this post to have everyone share their M20C mods, and pictures. Show them off and let me know which ones you would do again and which ones you wouldn't. Just though I would let you know they both worked very well and highly recommend them. If you can skip mod one and go straight to mod two even better.

Sorry if I missed something, but what is the difference in the 3 units? At least for our planes I know that anything is better than nothing but for such a minor cost difference just makes me think well just buy the best? I bought the classic version but left it as part of my F model that I sold and now need to add one to my new plane. $139, $159, $169? or the Classic version at $129, $149, $159?

Just looked at controller for my usual every once in a while check in to see what is in the market. WOW WOW There are currently only 54 Mooneys listed????? That is half of the number of normal listings!

I was going to add to the thread earlier that says.... REMEMBER everything is for sale. I just closed on mine at the end of Dec. A 310 hp O without A/C or FIKI though. I would resale it for the right price (However, as you can imagine I would be asking well above market value...LOL). After a very extensive pre-buy I think I have a purchased a phenomenal bird and I am sure you will enjoy your new O and congrats.

So my question is a cost benefit etc comparison between twin GI275's vs 7 inch G500TXi or the 7 inch G3X Touch (not to mention the 10 inch) or the Aspen/Dynon Products?. Did you consider these options?

Just FYI... I was taught to avoid using the AP disconnect switch as much as possible because they have a tendency to break off in your hand. The use a quick hit of the trim tab does the same thing and those are not as fragile.

How many Mooneys are based at your home field?
wcb replied to RLCarter's topic in General Mooney Talk
I do not know if anyone can even count the number at KDWH. If someone has a count for DWH I would be interested to know. -

Interested in purchasing a J model, have some questions
wcb replied to Ryan ORL's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
@Ryan ORL Here is a thought with that budget. My 76 F add the GFC 500 and you will have a great plane and be well under budget.
