  1. Nice. What kind of buffer/polisher and pads did you use?
  2. I have been struggling with 'darty' steering since I got my K. I had the steering horn replaced with a refurbed unit with little change. Based on this post, had a look at the collar the other day and it has been installed with the larger gap towards the top, suggesting it may have been put together wrong at some time? I'll my mechanic to swap this over next annual as I need to get the front tire replaced too. I am happy to hear that there may actually be an issue as every other plane I fly is rock solid on the rollout. I would post photos but my gear is dirty and y'all are really judgy about this...
  3. You had noted a speed improvement of 30-40 kts. Is that really the case at responsible power levels? I also have a K and have considered some upgrades both within and outside of the Mooney family. It is pretty tough to justify the extra costs and the jump without a pretty decent speed and/or payload improvement and (aside from an Aerostar... ) I haven't found one worth making the jump for, based on additional utility or the additional risk of fixing unknown mechanical issues.
  4. I can also offer this document that was provided by someone when I had this issue. TKS Stall Trigger Installation.pdf
  5. I had one break free, but there is also a feed tube behind it that connects in the back. Mine was dangling by the metal tube. I re-attached with the secret sauce adhesive, and redid the other at the same time as it was also loose. If your came right off, there might be other damage with the missing tube, so a bit more than just gluing a new one on.
  6. I looked very hard at a TB21 before buying my M20K. They are wider, but I found they had less head room due to the trim around the door frames. The fuel burn and relative speed to the M20K was also a mark against it. I really like their styling though, and having two doors would be nice.
  7. I use these. A real switch, but smaller reservoir. This and a small heater in my outdoor, tie down works wonders. https://www.eva-dry.com/product/edv-1100-petite-dehumidifier/
  8. Great advice here. 1, 2 and 3 have all happened to me. I think my firewall forward hose may be solid though? CAV sells a complete kit with olives and o rings for redoing the whole hose installation, which helps for having some spare parts around.
  9. Hi Ken, Looking at the images on the other forum, I see wing boots, but none on the tail? Any anti-ice on the windscreen? Beautiful plane by the way. If it wasn't for the pain in the butt import process I would be all over this.
  10. Thanks, how would the previously mentioned alodine pen come in to this? Is this a prep for the primer or an alternative? Thanks for the help.
  11. Hi, sorry to resurrect this old post, but I am undertaking some touchups with the advice within. I see that primer comes in zinc phosphate and zinc chromate. Which one do I use? thanks,
  12. For what it's worth, I update my GNS 430W nav database card every month on a mac using the Garmin software and have not had any issues. The mac being used is the current operating system, but an older macbook laptop. I had more issues with Jepp software compatibility with the mac which forced the switch, along with lower costs.
  13. On my 262 K the relay is above the pilot's feet behind the panel. @LANCECASPER That one piece belly comment is too true, and mine is part of that club! The motors are switched on/off with the limit switches. I would be surprised that the relay would fail in this way as i believe it is has four poles. The clutches are engaged 100% when the plane is on. Is the button actually working? Wiring diagram attached if you don't have it already.
  14. I remember looking at this one out of curiosity. It is the first 'firewall forward' upgrade to 252 that I have seen that kept the LB/GB cowl flaps vs the single, bottom mounted MB flap.
  15. Thanks, @M20Doc is this true for Canada? Not mandatory for GA in Canada? Are used springs with known hours suitable in a pinch? I hate that idea considering the my gear seems to be fine.
  16. Hi, I have this coming up soon. Is there really none available? I am not familiar with this SB. Is it mandatory replacement or on condition? I sounds like my annual next week is about to get a whole lot more expensive.
  17. No plans to broadcast any kind of information like the US does. I think this make the whole thing even worse, really nothing in it for the GA owners aside from a $10k bill to upgrade. I know there are quite a few areas with no radar coverage at all, hence the desire to go this route and it makes sense. Even in British Columbia, which not far north, has many areas that barely have radio coverage at GA altitudes let alone radar. It is just frustrating that two countries that share the same airspaces can't even remotely coordinate their multi-million dollar infrastructure planning. The over flight of US or CDN airspace on domestic flight is an interesting issue. We do it daily in Victoria to pretty much any where to the east. Making a grey area of enforcement around the border might happen but seems contrary to putting mandates in place.
  18. Perhaps, but there are 66 for ADSB so I would expect at least a couple to be visible to the antenna.
  19. I wonder how they will even know? Our planes are pretty small and would be surprised that a bottom mounted antenna doesn't pick up at least some satellite coverage. I know mine is off to the side somewhat and not under the wing. Not like we are flying 737s... As a Canadian, I am going to wait on this one a bit. We heard this story before, then it was moved back.
  20. The turbo heats up the intake charge considerably, increasing the possibility of detonation. I have been wondering the same, as to how my TSIO360 would fair on UL91 or 94 and what the resulting margin for detonation might be. How conservative are these tests?
  21. No special option. I have this on mine. The flow transducer gets power by one instrument, but the signal wire, negative and ground go to both instruments. Works great. The wiring for this is shown in either the EDM or Shadin manual, but it as easy as it sounds.
  22. I have landed on a runway that turned out to be covered in ice. Does that count?
  23. Interesting that it has the MB engine from the 252 but still has the two-piece cowl flaps per the GB and LB. I thought all of the 'firewall forward' upgrades like the 262 mod changed that out too.
  24. Hi FoxMike, I am curious as to why the Bravo is not as much fun to fly. Within the short/mid/long body continuum, do they are all not flight pretty similar?
  25. Both regulators were immediately under the panel on the copilot side, mounted side by side adjacent the center pedestal. I have the 262 like yours and the second regulator was clearly added where it would fit. Your obseravations are the same as mine; two VR415 running isolated. Each has it's fault light also. There is nothing that I could see coordinating their operation aside from the voltage settings and RPM when running. I had a broken lead to the belt alternator that caused fluctuations like this. It was hidden inside the boot at the end of the connection to not immediately apparent until it was taken apart. Check the simple stuff first. I am not sure the voltage setting is that critical any more. With newer avionics and LED lighting the electrical loading is considerably less than when these planes were built. So long as the second alternator is running and can carry load it will back up the first unit. My second regulator was literally tyrapped to the underside. The original one is bolted to the tubing to the left, but not in this image.
