  1. Neither of these posts are aviation related, therefore by your own "rules" they do not belong on MS and should be deleted. Have a nice day!
  2. This plane was posted on the Vintage Mooney FB page by its owner David Sturgis. First time I have seen a paint job like this, Obviously, this is not an original scheme.
  3. I paid just over half of that ($450) for my ATP flying out of Oakland. $800 is insane.
  4. Where in NC are you located. Sounds like it may be time for a Mooney specific A&P to take a look. @AGL Aviationis at KMRN north of Charlotte.
  5. I had to fly 2+45 to put my plane in Lynn's hangar, and Bob was out of town...
  6. @mike_elliott would be your best bet, that is if he is not already all booked up. He is based in the Tampa area.
  7. It's weird because I can only find experimental versions of the Trio Pro, is shows at 3 AMUs, I can only assume the certified version is more expensive. Yet, looking at STC Group's website they have install kits for certified planes. So 3 AMU for the AP + 3 AMU for STC Group's install kit plus A&P install time. Once again you are in for 9-10 AMUs. https://www.thestcgroupllc.com/
  8. Ha, NEVER! I have 18 months left in the south and then it is northwest bound. Hopefully we will meet for lunch on the 26th.
  9. Assuming I have my plane back from annual, I will be there, just a short hop from my current location. @thomas1142our planes may be at the same field again...
  10. NDH=No Damage History
  11. I have a feeling one has nothing to do with the other. I had to put in a new rheostat in my F a couple of years back. One flight the instrument lights worked the next nothing. I guess they just didn't make parts in the 70s to last
  12. Seth, First I am going to give you a bad time about your above statement...the King Air is a turboprop not a turbine I currently maintain 2 paper log books. I have both a civilian and military logs. My current civilian version is about to be filled up so I got this one as my replacement https://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/senior-pilot-s-flight-log-and-record.html?utm_source=google_shopping&m=simple&mrkgcl=596&mrkgadid=3150907911&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Aircraft+Supplies&creative=75797585338496&device=c&matchtype=e Aircraft Spruce also has a leather bound version https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/propilotleather.php?recfer=14022
  13. I'm not sure who is doing the paint. Maybe @mike_elliott does, he has some time transitioning new owners.
  14. Ha, yep. Nothing like seeing a 15 hour plane with paint peeling off the elevator horns and half of the pilot side wing walk missing. The factory answer was "we flew through rain on the way." YGBSM! I flew through 2 hours of rain this past week, all my paint is still there.
  15. Andy, Welcome. I own N6949V which came off the assembly line in Kerville 3 planes in front of the one you are buying. If you haven't figured it out already it is actually a 1976 M20F by serial number even though the FAA calls it a 1975 because it was finished in December of that year. I just found it on Controller, Yep 76 with the 1 piece rear windows. It has a couple more "speed" mods than mine, I only have the cowl enclosure, I flight plan for 140kts but usually see 143ktas. I did notice that it has bladders, which can cause arguments here on MS if you haven't witnessed it yet. But, I see it only have the 54 gal capacity...I would add the extra bags in each wing to get you back to stock capacity. @Bob_Belville added them to his E recently if you have any questions about them.
  16. I have a M20F with C41 A/P and dual G5s + GAD29B. The G5s provide GPSS but I had to retain my Vacuum ADI.
  17. You mean like my stock fuel and oil pressure gauges?
  18. I'm right there with you in 2020!!!
  19. It kind of flies like a dump truck. It's very heavy on the controls due to it only having spoilers, no ailerons. Although to be fair, we don't really fly it the way most folks do. Lots of VFR patterns with 80 hr students along with instrument training, formation, and low levels. It cruises around pretty well. We flight plan for about 360KTAS and 1200lbs/hr. Our version does not have thrust reverse either so TOLD can be a challenge to meet on hot days. Single pilot is easily doable in it, as it is all the CBs are on the pilot side. Just would need to move the oxygen controls and a couple of gauges into the pilots field of view and it would be good to go. Also maybe move the gear handle further left. Oh, and most days I am single pilot as it is, only from the right seat. Students tend to come up with some interesting ways to not be present during the flights.
  20. I was single AI at the time. I happened to catch the vac gauge drop to zero out of the corner of my eye about the same time I got the Low Vac warning light. I just pulled the handle on the back up vac, the AI didn't even have a change to drift. Today, I would have to lose both Vac systems to even lose A/P. In addition I would have to also lose both G5s to be completely without an AI. Oh and I would have to have my Stratus and IPad fail as well since that is my back-up three times removed.
  21. That is an impressive 4th quarter
  22. It happened to me in my Mooney in the first 50 hours of ownership. In my case it was a non-event due to having a stand-by vac system. Not because of this event, but I now have 3 AIs. 2xG5s and my original AI to drive my A/P. Additionally, I have thousands of landings where AOA was the primary instrument we used. I love AOA and am having one installed at annual later this week.
