  1. I would be except that it looks like Sunday wx is going to close my window of opportunity for getting there.
  2. Then there’s the new 3S, just to rub salt in our wounds. 200 bucks less than our 2S. Ah, but they’ll give us 200 trade-in.
  3. Enjoy the 310. It’s a great ride (too). Just religiously maintain the gear.
  4. I have. Last winter in the cold. It’s doable. Only real issue I had was with the magnetometer ( optional). Had a weird grounding issue with the beacon. Feel free to ask any questions. Maybe I will remember enough to have an answer. Good luck!
  5. A full load of camping supplies tends to keep the weight aft and nose light. Taxi with elevator back in your lap and you should be fine. I’ve had my ‘66 C there a few times with no worries. Folks are bringing along plywood squares for parking pads lest the ground is soft to prevent sinking in during your stay. Good idea that I’ve yet to do. But I’ve only been flying in for 42 years. Oh, and your tow bar might come in handy. Have fun! Look for me in vintage camping (VAC), too.
  6. We are assuming the gear has been rigged and the down lock tensions are in spec. Mine were on the high side when I got first got mine. Last inch of travel very hard until adjusted.
  7. Then there is the iStart. Istartair.com. It seems to work.
  8. My Christen Eagle sounds like a corn popper when you pull the power on downwind and begin plummeting to earth. Never gets old.
  9. One blade untouched? Deadstick?
  10. Tail cone on the ‘66. Although my RV buddy refers to it as a “back-up light.” He enjoys out running Mooneys.
  11. Yes, Grab Bit is an example. Seem to be several similar offerings usually in kit of 3 or 4. For your typical #8 or #10 screws, very effective. I have broken the small one, however.
  12. There is a screw removal kit that has 3 sizes of double ended bits. One end is a left handed bit, the other is a left handed screw that fits into the hole made by the bit end. Both function with the drill in reverse. My experience is that it is amazing. ( I know, a picture is worth a thousand words. Next trip to the hangar I will take one, unless someone beats me to it.)
  13. I recently got one of the Spruce screw kits. Doing a “replace as necessary “ there seemed to be plenty to do the job and have spares for the next time. Certainly easier than calculating number and sizes needed.
  14. Count me in! 1 for sure.
  15. Sorry about the photo collage. Thought we were edited down to one.
  16. Maybe two finally flying. Eagle flew last week for first time in 7 years. Stinson next.
  17. That database comes in 2 parts, East and West. Might want to specify which (or both) you need. Wish I could help, but I don’t have any extra cards. I do have an extra 150XL, however, which has a card that goes with the unit.
  18. Ususal m.o. is Sunday thru Wednesday. Vintage camping. Been on the south side since the mid 70’s. Ended up in N40 a couple of times due to mud. Nice place to visit, but it’s not home for me.
  19. Hail Purdue! (Or whatever alums are supposed to say these days)
  20. Sadly, if OSH occurs in the midst of a drought, you will not enjoy trying to get screw-type anchors in the ground. The Claw works pretty well. Homemade versions of that are also useable. 40+ years of OSH speaking.
  21. Audio quality in two way radio has not changed or improved since , well, forever. Why can’t it sound like my car radio and what did happen to 8 track?
  22. I agree. It was a rhetorical question. Cost of parts plus labor. Sort of museum pieces as they are.
  23. Wonder what the conversion would cost these days. I recall it being around $1500 back when new. I doubt that included the prop.
