Seems like the right way to roll. That is how we complete. We only plug in night before.

Looks like engine and cabin heaters and electrical fires not to uncommon

Earlier this week I received an e-mail that stated there was a hanger fire #19 East T’s. I am four away. The pilot that had the fire is my CFI and a really good guy. He has traded up to a current Cessna Turbo (Carbon) bird and it may be totaled I gave him a call and he said he had an old power strip on a work bench with a Formica type top. He had his block heater and cabin heater as well as a battery minder plugged into the power strip. The strip over-heated and started the Formica on fire and his tail had heat damage... Two hangers behind his and two on either side had planes that had smoke soot. I could detect no sign of smoke intrusion. Just a heads up to be vigilant on grounded cords and getting a quality power strip that is UL listed and think about “retiring” after a few years of service. Hangers are tough environments for heat and cold. Fingers crossed for Jim. He was insured, but getting another plane as nice as his will be tough...Bad things happen to good people.

I took Tuck down by the river yesterday. It was 8 degrees with a brisk wind out of the east. He was having a blast, running his arse off (as he had not been out for a couple days to run). I endured it. His old...not older, just old brother Badger was not “up for it”. Like your Jack-Russel he HATES the cold. My dog names reach limit at two-syllables.

My pointer is quivering and woofing in dreams...curled up in my lap. My 55lb heater. Losing a dog is rough....Piper had a good run by sound of it. Piper II? Hope so.

When at Ft. McCoy (Wisconsin) in the field A-10’s would conduct gunnery training. The BRRRRrrrrrraaaaat!!!!! Of their Gatling Cannon was simply awesome! I would HATE to be on the receiving end of that. I served without ever seeing combat deployment. Having A-10’s dishing to enemy out front had to be...special. Thankful to the jockeys and those that listened “for real” overseas instead of training. An awesome machine. Keep ‘em flying!

And the intro to “Good Things” by Bodeans....”Our band” as seen on our anniversary in Madison on same night Bucky took down Miami... Major fail on that download, so this performance will have to do Any “Good Things” in your lives to share?

Sensorcon Inspector CO Detector Endorsement

200PPM? No Bueno. That is a reason NOT to own a Bravo. That is a completely unacceptable level of CO. The Pox to that...- 78 replies

I have a Mauser K98 with a repro scope and mount. (They look authentic, but are post-war). Great shooter in 8MM Mauser. I have collected some Aircrew pistols: Astra, Femaru, Browning, Mauser. I shoot them all. My 1940 Luger is shot sparingly...My now 90 year old neighbor had a beauty of a 1940 Luger. All matching with holster that he acquired while a radio section sergeant with 101st. Family got it, so I got the closest I could come by. Jack is still sound of mind, but body is starting to fail him

This thread started with an inquiry on a piece of Luftwaffe (WWII origin) aircraft skin section. The thread morphed, which is common and then turned to political ideology. I believe that is a No No from one that knows that is so. My exception/challenge is that the “Swaz/Hack” symbol is bad or the weapons or uniforms were bad. I think they represent history and many understand the importance of knowing and teaching history. I have a lot of Erich Hartmann/Luftwaffe memorabilia. The planes, including Hartmann’s, had the Swaz on the tail. It was the symbol of the political party and Germany under the Third Reich. Hartmann’s autobiography shows a man above reproach. He fought for his country...under an evil leadership that lives in infamy. I can separate the man from the evil perpetrated by Nazi Germany. Do I believe for a second that ALL Germans (Farmers, Construction Workers, Business Owners, Wives, Youth) were all racist? Hell no. I fully understand NOT wanting to own German WWII memorabilia. I get “it”. I personally would not want any SS, SA, Police or “party” stuff. Fighter pilot and plane stuff? All day every day. That said: USA is great because freedom to have a belief...even a belief that is reprehensible is legal as long as under the rule of law. That some disagree and say “no to all” is A.O.K. Too. Happy New Year everybody. May your 2018 bring health, prosperity and happiness.

Baggage door piano hinge

I replaced mine. It came in a large section that A&P cut and fitted. I have a section somewhere I would sell. Mine is a ‘66 E. I think I bought the part at Spruce. -
That (center of a Swaz on tail) is some good detective work. Definitely worth money on EBay if listed under Luftwaffe and described with history. I wouldn’t sell it personally.

Sensorcon Inspector CO Detector Endorsement
MyNameIsNobody replied to Rick Junkin's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Sure do Dan. I also remember my forgetting to remove my cowl plugs on departure...We both exchanged a classic look to each other from our side-by-side planes. (Yours said “Dude”). Mine (Did I really just do that? Yup.). Good meal as I recall. That runway was tough to spot with it covered in snow. I was looking right at it and I needed some other plane movement to “nail it”. I think there was a speedy J that joined us that day too Have a Merry Christmas!- 78 replies

What a great success story! Great response. So glad that the unit alarmed and you responded well. We just replaced our in home unit. Don’t forget those to everybody. Cheap protection. Looking forward to hearing what “culprit” was in the high levels of CO.- 78 replies

Just to be clear: Pull down on the collar (without pressing the detention switch) when down and locked to confirm...Down and Locked. I used to tug toward me. THAT is No good. Tug DOWN on J-Bar Collar. -

Brits and electronics. Surely all will be fine. -
We shall see on my test subject. That is the only one I care about. My engine is now 12 years and 700 hours into an overhaul with oversized Cylinders. Low use. A lot of sitting. A perfect test candidate for LOP and CamGuard.
-
You are a broken record on CamGuard. Really don’t give a flying F%$^what you put in your engine. Just thought I would update you on that. In fact, I really don’t give a flying F^&* about your opinion on oil additives generally or specifically regarding CamGuard. I feel better about having said that just like you must “feel better” about trying to save everyone from the apparent waste of money by using CamGuard.

Your Favorite Ride with your Favorite Plane
MyNameIsNobody replied to Stephen's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Always liked ‘em a lot. When my wife and I were recently married and made our first move to Indy in ‘86 I gave a deposit of $500 (we didn’t have crap for money back then) on a low mileage 325is coupe. Red with saddle leather interior. Kel said “We can’t swing this” and I forfeited the deposit. I occasionally have nightmares on that scenario, but hasn’t made the luster for the vehicle tarnish...sigh... -

Manual or Automatics? Not that I would judge (snicker). Nice Jim
