  1. Beautiful. The paint and interior are in crazy good condition. Reeks of “hanger princess”. How about a pic of the rear seat set-up? Not a fan of the machine-gun throttle quadrant, but other than that love it. “Great find”. What did you pay for this cream-puff? Glad the buzz saw is in its holster. Enjoy!
  2. CC, any of the electric pc solenoids that cancel pc available? This is Scott Thompson
  3. I generally like Cruise movies, (Oblivion was excellent), but I thought this movie was pretty lame. Free rental, but was meh at the end...
  4. Seriously? What a maroon...
  5. Too bad you didn’t hold on to them until today as their value would be huge...making your recent maintenance expenses a non-concern. Interesting that you acknowledge ego and “no need anymore a pick-up is fine”. Well good for you. As I look at houses down the street in the 3/4’s of a million range I say “good for them”. Not me though. I have more house than I need or ever thought I would own. On quality automobiles...cars are for the most part a depreciating asset, but if you buy the “right car” like the “right firearm” you can own, use, enjoy and realize appreciation. THAT is a beautiful thing. Your choice of vehicles in past was excellent, but your using them only as a tool and ego enhancer was maybe a mistake? I really enjoy my Porsche and will soon own/buy (money is close to free now I will borrow and continue to invest) an upgrade. Not because I give a flying $%^& about what my neighbors think, but because I desire “more” and can, so I will. I will have a pick-up too (eyeing my father-in-laws Tacoma with a matching topper steel rims and a four cylinder with hand crank windows) for winter running and dog trips to field. A 400+BHP six in the rear with sport exhaust is all the intoxicating drugs I need. After 30+ years and counting of work and company cars in garage for entire career...yeah, my daily driver will make me smile.
  6. My friend got to borrow his dads red TR6 a lot. He would let me drive it. Loved the car. The overdrive stalk was pretty cool. That straight six had a beautiful sound. The wood dash with analog gauges bouncing all over was just a ball on the backroads. Downshifting and blipping gave the sexiest burble. I would love to have that car and revisit my memories...
  7. $35/year for registration in Iowa. There is an state aviation department in Ames.
  8. My horn was a little “iffy” too. The whole button would come off if you hit it at a certain angle. I achieved that “certain angle” on multiple occasions...Quirky, but fun cars.
  9. I worked at a Hardee’s from 16-18 saving and paid cash for my car. Just lucky.
  10. I loved my X1/9 (girlfriend...and future wife in my ride back in the day)
  11. Luck can be either success or failure. I submit that for me personally random chance did not have much to do with my life decisions that put me in a position to buy a decades old Mooney....check that, to Co-Own a decades old Mooney. Here are my suggestions for three simple things to achieve versus be “the other side of luck”: 1. Stay in school 2. Do not breed, without technology to prevent a child, before you are finished with 1. 3. Don’t do drugs. I have a sister that submitted that I am “just lucky, whatever I do just works out well”... (She is divorced, decided to take a year off and live off her 401k in her 40’s, with penalties...picked up and chased a man several hundred miles, lives alone with cats...and smokes a couple packs a day) Just retired at 65.) I say she is livin’ the dream, you know compared to some poor kid born in some$%^&hole... ”Endeaver to persevere”...
  12. Nothing to see here. I am O.U.T....out.
  13. Ps. If no machine gun button that is a fail. Push pull....Winning.
  14. The ‘67. Hands down no-brainer. Better panel. Manual gear and flaps. ‘67 was a better year for Mooney than ‘69. ‘69 was cost saving measures. You can pick and do your interior. Pull out the seats and send them. Just not a big deal. Speaking of BIG DEALS...Corrosion or lack there of should NEVER be assumed. Pull the interiors and see the side-cage and lower tubes. ‘69 had poorer rust prevention. The ‘67 has been flying more and didn’t need a top prematurely...somebody has a hanger queen. DO NOT be swayed by leather. Get brand new leather the way YOU want it. Get the ‘67, if only for the cool vacuum retract step.... edit on that “twisted wing comment”...
  15. Nice article in online Aviation Consumer this morning. Very exciting.
  16. This is a game changer at the price point with auto pilot servos. Wowza. This will disrupt the market in a positive way BIG TIME!
  17. This is really unfortunate.
  18. Um, ya, I don’t HATE my job. I totally agree with you that regardless of $ if you hate what you are doing, life is too short. The other side of that coin is I have so many pursuits that I find fun that works gets in the way of pursuing them to the degree I would like. I hope that by saving for the future I have my health and can enjoy my “part-time” entertainment FULL-TIME answering to no one for my time, my schedule, my production. When many around you that you love are entering retirement and you are still “working for the man”, when you have the specter of a father that checked out only one year into his retirement you begin to think more and more about “when”...At least I do.
  19. Fun? I have always worked to Iive NOT lived to work. Good for those of you that are in a career/profession that you are passionate about and enjoy. For me, NEVER have I identified my “self” with my employment...
  20. That sucks. Sorry to hear this. I didn’t have you pegged (and I know you are not) as a quitter. Hang tough. Life will give you the ying to that yang...
  21. Head scratcher to the original poster that compares Co-Ownership with being a Walmart greeter...(I actually enjoy people watching at “The WalMart”...but I digress. I look forward to adding another Co-Owner to the party. Fixed expenses go down and the plane gets flown vs. sitting in the hanger. All good. The key is to have people you enjoy, respect and trust. My plane costs $200 a month and an additional $30/hour for use wet. I plan to continue to own and fly in retirement. Speaking of...(correction in the market? This last year has been very pleasant.) There is certainly some reality out there on the horizon...You pension guys are living the dream. Real estate management? You have to be a special person or be able to hire that special person to want to have that life every day. No thank you, I will just continue to be a Corporate lackey until I am not. God bless a working productive saving analytical spouse. They are worth their weight in gold....or platinum. Good luck getting “there”. Retirement, hopefully not a finish line, but an opportunity to be on vacation every damn day. Enjoy.
  22. To that bottom line. Of course MINE is the “Best” E in the country because it is MINE Like Bob’s it is NOT FOR SALE and will hopefully someday be flown by my Co-Owners children.
  23. Anybody store fuel in plastic containers in their hanger? Not a good idea. The article with ammunition involved in a fire as well as compressed fuel gas also sobering. Be careful. This scenario is an example of how others can impact you. The level of flammable and combustibles you have can contribute to fire when initiated by others...
