  1. Watching Shifting Gears With Aaron Kaufman (formerly of Fast & Loud) and in the middle. Of a Big Rig Gig building a racing semi Aaron takes a break and goes up flying with a friend in his fully acrobatic plane. First they did some donuts on the runway and then launched into some full on aerobatics. Short and sweet. Aaron got to fly and do some aero and in the end he states: “I need to get my pilots license”. Win for GA? I think so. Fun episode. (Alexa must be eavesdropping and giving away my ideas)
  2. Ours is starting to precess and will need refurbished sometime soon.
  3. There are a couple of models of turn-coordinator that work with the Accu-Trak. I think the Brittain site listed them. You might be able to find one at a shop that is already refurbished and use yours as a core.
  4. Honesty, what I think doesn’t matter. The market (supply and demand) and of course options (perceived value) dictate the price. Geography, Location, location, location and how motivated is the owner or family to sell. Data Point. I paid just under $60k when I bought my plane over a decade ago. I brought the hanger queen back from the dead and now have a reliable dispatch airframe. I would not sell my E for $70k and she doesn’t have a new paint job or a 430w or an S-Tec. They are where you find ‘em. They have often led a tough life or portion of their lives suffering benign neglect. Find one that has been flying regularly and you are ahead of me in the game of Mooney roulette. Like gambling Mooney ownership is exciting, addictive, satisfying, painful and expensive. A worthy pursuit. Enjoy the hunt, but be wise or wealthy or both.
  5. Neither. I fly to reach destinations more quickly so I can recreate.
  6. I don’t dispute condition and panel as key factors. If the budget is $25-40 and a Unicorn, I mean airframe exists with a 430 and an S-Tec already installed I look forward to seeing it. Unobtanium...
  7. Really Paul? Really? I understand you have a strong opinion on this but walking away from an otherwise solid airframe is not good advise. You gave your opinion, I have given mine. Nothing personal beyond a difference in opinion.
  8. Gold course was supposed to open a couple of weeks ago. It snowed. Golf course was supposed to open this Wednesday. Not gonna happen...
  9. We have two inches and it is coming down hard in Cedar Rapids, IA... I was just out walking the dog and enjoying a Cigar earlier. I hate Spring generally and specifically snow in friggin’ April. The humanity...
  10. Aviation Consumer Quote: “Mooney connoisseurs tell us the best Mooneys ever built were the 1966-67 models. These had most of the airplane’s desirable features-the square windows, flush riveted wing, retractable step, optional manual landing gear, good corrosion-proofing and the wide deck engines. The 1966 E models seem to have the smoothest wings I ever saw, comments long time Mooney mechanic Charlie Dugosh”.
  11. Right? I replaced mine when I bought the plane. The step spring and the hinge were the cheapest to things ever replaced. I guess that available part from Mooney Service Centers dried up. Talking under $10 bucks for each part in 2002. The replacement does exactly what it needs to do. Very lite-weight. Very simple. My old one balanced and wind nailed me in the head once. That was enough...
  12. Agree 100%. That was my intent to have a soft “A-Ha” moment for viewers that GA really does allow MORE of life through opening up opportunities for experiences that could not be had with traditional land based travel.
  13. A veteran and an accomplished life. He was loved and he will be missed. A very competent pilot. Just a tragic loss.
  14. Tell Chocks taking peoples money and not delivering is theft. Kind of a douche...
  15. No worries to anyone. I have gotten some great suggestions for shows to pursue (and where they are) and I am a plane geek so enjoy all planes all the time shows too.
  16. That’s a BINGO. Thanks for seeing/getting my point Yooper. I am about marketing how GA can “make other fun stuff/adventure” happen by being a time travel machine. A machine that is pretty cool and worthy of pursuit.
  17. I just watched an excellent video on YouTube with Mike from Florida. A beautiful makeover with many AMU’s spent. Really nice example of an ‘82J
  18. Pretty much nailed that pard. That is why “My Show” would be a quick hit on GA with a meet/intro of plane/owner/pilot and take off low runway flyboy for speed and a quick cabin shot with wiz bang gauges a shot of the airspeed with knot to MPH conversion and a gear coming down and final...and cut to the hot four wheel ride I get it man. I surely do.
  19. I have never caught an episode and would like to. Looks like the closest thing to what I am interested in, but with an even greater focus on GA.
  20. You guys are a tough crowd. I could not agree more that a show focused on GA will have narrow appeal. My premise is that GA is mysterious to those outside the cult. A window into advantages as transport/speed and showing some cool hardware is good for GA and would be interesting...in small doses...as a marketing tool to those outside.
  21. Tandem Parachute jumping. Archery. Museum’s..... Stuff that average person doesn’t do, but COULD with a plane ride to get ‘em there. Adventure awaits... New experiences. New passions.... Golf tournament/tennis tournament....
  22. GA and classic cars are just the transportation to the adventure...but with a little adventure built in.
