  1. for what its worth, in gliders you have to demonstrate a simulated tow rope break at 200ft, and land back on the runway. so its pretty engrained in me. i will say, however, after reading this topic, i should consider amending my departure procedure to pitch for 85 (Vx) until 1000AGL, to stay close and get high, and be closer to Vglide for just this contingency.
  2. When my Bravo was based at KOAK, I practiced landing on 28R and turning off at taxi speed at Echo, about 1400 ft from the threshold. Quite doable if you're at low gross weight, ON SPEED, full flaps, aerodynamic braking (full aft stick) and brakes.
  3. a 4-pack!
  4. can you cite the source for this?
  5. "How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch" https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201656
  6. I'm curious if anyone who has this installed also has the Garmin GI-260 AOA indicator. I'm adding both in my panel upgrade.
  7. I did one of these in my instrument training! When we asked the controller said, "havent done one of these since the military. lets give it a try.
  8. My Bravo is currently in annual at Air-Mods. Very impressed. they know their Mooneys!
  9. @Robert HicksPM sent, or email me bob@pasker.net
  10. @Schinderhannes the tailbeacon is temporary until it goes in for a new panel (GTX345), and I'm not currently flying IFR / Class A until then.
  11. MMU for sure. Better runway and an ILS CDW has a lot of flight training and the controllers don't seem very adept mixing in fast traffic

  13. what exact device is this?
  14. Plane needs ADS-B after annual and before it goes in for the new panel. Whatcha got? please PM or email mooney@pasker.net
  15. i'm getting the GI-275 which although smaller and more expensive, has higher resolution, and can show mapping, terrain, ADS-B WX and Traffic
  16. thanks -- getting the GFC500
  17. where are these pictures? I am trying to decide between G500txi and 3GX in my bravo
  18. I have a backup instrument for the totalizer! its called a watch: I allocate a very generous 24gph in the climb @500fpm/120KIAS, and 20gph in fast cruise (based on CHT and TIT). those numbers make the math easy.
  19. The estimate I got was $2000 for the senders and $4000 for installation. None of those sound like a $6000 problem
  20. the air-mods people in NJ have mooney instructors https://www.airmodsflightcenter.com/flight-instruction-flying-lessons
  21. I'm just reading up on this, as my avionics installer is asking me if I want these senders. I have an M with 89gals For long-range trips, I have used the totalizer that came with the plane with great success. I feel comfortable landing with 20 in the tanks and filling up again with 65-70 gals. What demonstrable benefit (rather than just knowing exactly how much is in the tank) will I get from using these?
  22. This is exactly right!
