  1. enforcement action for sure
  2. I think you guys overthink this. Controllers don't give random holding often either. I think most don't care where you hold as long as it's at the altitude they give and the vicinity of the fix they want. It's simply airplane storage. Ymmv. Think of it as "go here because I can't deal with you right now"
  3. Horrible video. I think the wings are crooked. Or maybe I'm just jealous Can't wait to see it all complete.
  4. I just made a reservation online, picking up near dfw I can try and call and haggle it but I'm not sure I'll have much success. I'm picking up a plane, not dropping off.
  5. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I forget that stupid diagram. I tend to dive I to the wind and climb away from. You want that nose planted. https://goo.gl/images/Pv759q
  6. Oh well, worth a try. If anyone hears of hangar space around Denver I need a place to stash a plane for a few months out of the snow. I
  7. No, not really. The holding fix is your new clearance limit. Cleared to. Next is what to do when you get there, hold. Then then as published or random instructions. It's a logical format.
  8. I guess it isn't required, but is there any reason not to update the aspen other than cost?
  9. I'm trying to figure out what subscriptions I need, and the more I look the more confused I get. The IFD540 is straightforward, just nav data, I don't think it's worth having chart data with the aspen on board. The aspen is a 1500 with synthetic vision. Seattle Avionics sells what I think is a chart only subscription for $299, described as "Each subscription includes FAA-certified geo-referenced IFR and VFR approach plates, airport diagrams, Mins, Arrival Procedures, and Departure Procedures." Then Jepp sells a navdata subscription for $450 a year, then a terrain once a year he said for $240, I asked and he said the terrain included the synthetic vision data as well. Am I getting this right? I need a jepp ifd540 sub, a seattle avionics sub if I want charts on the aspen, then a jepp navdata and occasional terrain update? don't know how I initially missed it, but marauder explained it pretty well here, so nvm I guess
  10. I have a reservation for Enterprise, it's a bit more though, about 120. Amtrak doesn't fit my schedule.
  11. will vector for hangar space.
  12. afraid not, it's the only day off I have that week so I'm flying down on southwest after work on the 30th and overnighting in dallas, then driving mostly likely to GGG and flying back
  13. I'm guessing flightaware.com just doesn't get data from Cuba radar. Maybe they do. I'm sure all is well.
  14. Very very long day. Compounded by the stress of the failure and repair.
  15. Anything going in the hangar to replace it? And if not can I rent the space short term? Lol
  16. Long shot, but you never know. Supposed to pick something up WX and everything else permitted. There be 2 of us.
  17. wonder if he's carrying a raft.
  18. must have. Pee break?
  19. it's cuba, those guys can fix anything with some bailer twine and duct tape. Just look at their cars.
  20. definitely don't think I could wring 1100+ miles out of our plane.
  21. I love watching people on flight aware for some reason. When one of the other owners takes our plane somewhere I always watch too, and I think they watch me.
  22. very tempting, if I had 500+ hours in type.
  23. NICE! so uh, it's flying now and you don't really neeeeed that rocket anymore.... Just saying
  24. airports are testing drone detection technology that can triangulate these things...
  25. I keep one of those oil filled space heaters in the cabin that comes on with my engine heater. I think it's better for the gyros to be warmed up a little.
