  1. I used mine about twice and sold them
  2. I tried qc halos too and hated them.
  3. Clearance just spits out what the computer prints on the strip. They don't know where a lot of those fixes are. They can edit but as I understand it's pretty cumbersome to do so and they usually won't. They can call center though and ask center to make changes.
  4. Do they even do the non-fiki installation anymore? I thought I read cav didn't bother with it at all these days. I could justify it for 30k-ish
  5. You do, workload permitting. Most pilots greatly over estimate the service being provided with vfr ff It's less work to just get the clearance o the ground than ask for flight following. Lol
  6. I bought a pair of h10-30s back in the 90s and I'm still using them, though now with a headsets Inc anr conversion and a new e1 mic Another forum is all over those squawk shop anr sets. I asked for one for Xmas a couple years back and they're absolute garbage.
  7. I notice in the winter I'm really fast east bound West bound sucks a fat one.
  8. Is it Jose's old airplane? Might be the piss tube extension switch
  9. Except a lot of sua notams come out 2 hours before it goes eligible . On a 4 hour flight it's very easy to miss. In the summer when wildfires can pop up so can tfrs.
  10. No. Once they look for a strip on you they assign a beacon and you tag up, they don't care where you came from.
  11. Dro also has a wam site and they can see you and talk to you on the ground. You could go to Animas air park too, I don't think k it's private. Haven't been myself.
  12. You're worried about a 15 minute hold for release? Small price to pay to avoid sua and tfrs in unfamiliar areas.
  13. Man, I wouldn't even consider a cross country vfr. Being on an ifr plan makes everything so much easier.
  14. Almost every time I search for something I'd like an answer on I find a useful answer from you. So whine away. I'm sure all of us are happy to help someone we otherwise couldn't.
  15. Good luck. Headed out of the country but I'll check in to see your progress! I built the first iteration stratux with the long receivers and crappy metal antenna. I just rebuilt mine with the low power receivers and a new case with high gain antennas. Can't wait to test it in the air.
  16. Yeah, you probably can, you would need something to see that it's getting GPS data. I'm sure there are apps and drivers out there but I think it'll just muddy the water. I figured you had the stratux with you, sorry. I guess by "it" I assume you mean the gps and not the stratux. The raspberry pi needs more power than your pc port likely provides.
  17. makes you wonder who the poor 5 year old that had to crawl back there and install it all was.
  18. We came to an accord. It's sitting in our hangar. Need to get the mixture set because it's all sorts of funky at idle and get a block heater installed. MSC can't get it in for another week. I flew it back from GGG and haven't touched it since.
  19. You shouldn't need to go fly, you should get a GPS lock in your house as long as you're not in a basement or anything funky. Just plug her in to whatever power source you've got and give her hell.
  20. start with the simple stuff, go to 192.168.10.1 and check on the settings page, make sure that GPS is ticked ON. as the GPS doesn't have ephemeris data the first lock can take quite some time, I'm sure you gave it plenty though? edit:You asked on the second page I noticed, so I'll give more detail just to be safe. Open your ipad or whatever device you use, make sure the stratux is on and you're connected to the STRATUX wifi, not your home. Open the browser (safari if ipad) and type in 192.168.10.1 and it should load the settings page, along the left there should be a few "menus" click on something like settings, look that GPS is on. You'll have settings for the 1090 and 978 receivers, and also GPS.
  21. one member here has a pneumatic driven. I keep watching for a used electric, it might happen some day.
  22. we had such a nice fall on the front range, this actual winter weather kind of sucks.
  23. I think the idea is you put the board in place and move the battery from the tray to the board so you don't have to crawl back there. I haven't actually looked or noticed how far back the second battery is.
  24. I'd be busy too if I had one. Glad to see mine looks like yours at least.
