  1. I'd guess 72 minutes, here's why. People run the honda eu2000 off propane and say it'll run 24 hours on a 20lb bottle, 1/20th of 24 hours is 72 minutes
  2. propane works great in the cold. Companies make propane fired ice augers for fishing and they work very, very well.
  3. makes sense, I always assumed it was the higher octane and resulting detonation resistance or something. Thanks.
  4. I never said he was a good mechanic.
  5. And yet 91.113 doesn't exist to the controller. If given an advisory I'm going to go with its on you to decide how to comply.
  6. I also feel like our tug is harder to start in the winter on 100LL. Dunno why.
  7. There is no way our 231 would. Absolutely none. I do happen to still own it and the rocket...
  8. Get one of them big sample jars and ya, one jar would probably run her an hour but then you gotta run it dry or worry about the fuel.
  9. I wonder if you can make these run on propane like the little Honda. If it's a close enough copy maybe the carb kit will work for the Honda. Sure be neat to run it off a 1lb propane cylinder instead of having gas in the plane.
  10. Part 91 right of way rules have nothing to do with the 7110.65
  11. bringing the airplane home this month we ran in econ cruise. At 8000 feet we ran 165kts TAS per the aspen at 14.5-15GPH. That's essentially the same as our 231 would do. GGG to denver nonstop right at 4 hours. Other than the climb fuel, which could be argued is probably a wash since I climb at nearly twice the rate on nowhere near twice the fuel, I fail to see where this big additional fuel expense is. Unless I want to run at 80% power and feed it 24GPH to do 230KTS TAS. Econ cruise is nearly identical to the 28" 2500RPM 68-70% cruise in the stock K. So, I wouldn't trade you either.
  12. it's rarely that you need 5 more miles. traffic usually isn't wired and you already have a mile or three and just need a couple more.
  13. It only uses as much fuel as you give it.
  14. The rocket will do 1500 or better. If I lived in the flat lands I'd be fine with 500 or 809. I don't, and I'm not.
  15. I'm happy with our rocket so far. Over 1k useful and stellar climb rate. The K isn't a great climber.
  16. Speed control is a wonderful tool if applied correctly.
  17. the mechanic told me it was broken and said he couldn't find a spare, by the time I got back to him he had all the panels removed. Oh well.
  18. It's probably tower protecting for the go around.
  19. High here tomorrow is like 3f so what, probably - 15ish for the Canucks? Fairly unusual for this part of Colorado. I went to UND so I'm familiar with the minus 35f routine.
  20. I was in costa rica yesterday. It was mid 80's and the pool felt too cool to get in
  21. less a commentary on the future of GA and more a crappy product brought to market methinks.
  22. Thanks as always Don
  23. Anyone have a source? Mooney doesn't have them. Anyone that can make me one that isn't absurd?
  24. My view in 5 hours
  25. Something about last day on vacation and having to return to the US and cold and snow today. And flying Southwest. My view right now
