  1. Cheap bastard card revoked.
  2. My bigger concern is I don't know where these are on the engine. With such and expensive piece of tapped rod stock, I really should know where it goes.
  3. I don't understand, but I did just spend 2 hours price shopping between Aircraft Spruce and Amazon.
  4. FSDO can do that. Mine was kind of tattered so I had them do a new one. As far as N number the new one end in HW or Hotel Whiskey. Think I will keep it.
  5. Howdy. There is a nice F for sale in Brenham. Just saying.
  6. Not sure about a C150 but the flaps on a Mooney have less surface area than a C172 does. They are also way closer to the ground. When the flaps get close to the ground they are pushing air down into the runway. This adds to the float. half flaps lets some of that air escape out the back. I am pretty much half flaps all the time for landing in the F model.
  7. Spruce sells lots of buttons more than likely you will want a single pole momentary. Digikey has every button switch you could imagine. More than likely you can find a part number or something on the switch to look up. Your soldering skills will be put to the test to R&R. I would greatly suggest a Weller Soldering Station.
  8. https://www.amazon.com/MAGNECRAFT-W67RCSX-3-POWER-RELAY-24VDC/dp/B00HPLQM3Q This relay is a horrible idea from Mooney. Way under designed. As indicated by the failure rate.
  9. can we get a year date on these occurrences? and if you used a maintainer or not?
  10. Just a helpful note. Dresser is taking 10% off Gill Batteries. Offer ends today. https://shop.vseaviation.com/products/general-aviation/batteries
  11. speed cost more. Don't get stuck on purchase price of the plane. You will spend much more money operating and maintaining the plane. Newer planes within a group will have less ADs on them. Also carburator vs fuel injected.
  12. Check the polarity of the thermal couple wiring. Make sure you have proper k or j
  13. That is where Eagle 2nd battery ground is terminated. You could undo it and run it on top of the bundle of cables. When you rebolt it make sure the butt terminal is facing more forward and that will give you the slack you need. The cable is stiff enough you just need to bend it up and it will stay. That whole area there is not wire pretty. The wire bundle coming from the tail should not make that bend down like that. Cut off all the ty wraps and pretty it up. The ty wrap holding the inline fuse block on number 2 battery should not be pointing up like that so rotate it around and cut off flush before you do. It's going to slice your arm open. Pro tip. finger nail clippers will round off a ty wrap when cutting, but they are slow and clumsy. I have some of the $50 Snap on flush cut pliers. What I found though is the $8 nail and cuticle clippers in the cosmetic section at walmart are probably better than the Snap on. Why are they better? because you can buy several pairs and not spend as much time trying to find where you put them down and I never see a Snap-on truck. I probably have 8 pairs of them in various locations. They smaller clippers are better for cutting ty wraps off a bundle of wires than a big pair of dykes.
  14. If there is a Gusty part to the cross wind (Spring flying in Texas) then having the upwing wing level to the ground and doing a one wheel landing seems to keep the gust from picking that wing up. The low profile of the Mooney makes it so it does not get thrown around as much as some planes with a larger side profile.
  15. Interesting to note that the Eagle POH says to turn master on and the Alt Field on before starting the engine. Published in 1999.
  16. If it's cheaper, then throw the sender part away. It all about saving money. May be time to bust out the vinyl printer. The Put a blank white background down and then cut out the black vinyl gallon markings. I just used some Plastx to shine mine up and they came out good.
  17. What might be a good idea is to scribe marks on the outer ring of the housing in case your current one departs. Back up the scribe marks with a sharpie. Then just pop in a new one. If you remove the part number and just search for the Rochester Gauge Dial, you can find the whole assembly for cheaper than just the Gauge. https://www.ebay.com/itm/266988774019?_skw=Rochester+Gauges+Dial+Capsule&itmmeta=01JPDFB307TJ2HMPMA5QDC49VJ&hash=item3e29c56283:g:n44AAOSwshVm5EuJ&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAABAFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1ffSDznTkzMUk6T5KytV%2FkzTMgkAfKAelweTlHLk0bpebRZqX1k%2FLLVOfOuHPdEo0Y9p%2FcUK0jD0tcbv7t5RugqvRxM5SE5LctElmevBIQTaYY1zpWrUPpcWrcFbQ%2BqiymLy6JQxX%2FnldEd7jQ4HDOIaUGwkfVY7fH3kSOQUU1qv7yVaKQPkZJkMVcH%2FM1EG9IE6zWEv2x%2BQiTEIe7Fqj8vOHRVPxqNql2N0qyHrgBvHT%2FS%2BbSFfiUVoDUXJP9p4Ei5LF9K%2FzK8EEoL3ZAvarSrocnZ1FWmlN5XOGuwg3E954ySH5PBrKp78QvFM70I3f4%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6CwrK-zZQ
  18. Not really. If you search Mooneyspace you will find the number for the diode packs. Spruce sells the brushes. Or the Alternator shop can rebuild your air boat alternator.
  19. Waiting on my Supporter status to be complete. Have not figured out how to delete all those pics from long ago.
  20. Start with the easy stuff. When was your trim system lubed? Starting with the trim wheel chain, to the jack screw and including all the u joints in between.
  21. I would inspect the door carefully in that area for scratches and such. That might provide clues. The "scratch" in the one pic looks like it might be the initial start of things. it is a bit longer than the break. And it could just be that this is a stress point between the door frame and skin. Aluminum can only be worked for so long before it tears.
  22. OK I finally get it. Ovations and poor man's Ovations ie The Eagle are freaking fast. Picked it up yesterday flew 800 miles home in 4 and half hours. Made it south across East Texas in an hour. Mooney Zoom. Oh there is a F model with Dynon Skyview for sale.
  23. I test drove a Cybertruck a couple of months ago. The FSD tried to make a left turn out of the middle lane. So I took over and went straight. To be fair it was a construction zone and lanes may have shifted recently. It did pretty well on the high way. Not sure about letting traffic merge. The Ford and Subaru are bad about letting in cars merge in. It did pull out in front of a car on a side street. Not sure if the car was blinking to turn right, but I had to take over. It did get stuck making a left turn onto a busy street from a side street. I had to take over and do a Right turn then a U turn. The two biggest things were, I really did not know were I was or how to get back to the dealer, because I did not Navigate to the super charger. There seems to be a reliance on cameras/screens for visibility. so you end up looking at the screen, but then FSD penalizes you for taking the eyes off the road. Not sure how you handle these issues if you are a passenger in a self driving taxi. Several times I found myself talking to the car telling it how that was not going to work
