mikefox Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Has anyone else had trouble with oil seepage from the gasket at the bottom of the filler neck? Aslo, are all newer filler necks plastic? I seem to remember the older ones being metal. 1989 M20J, Lycoming IO360A3B6D Thanks, Mike Quote
jrwilson Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 My 20c has a metal 1, and it has seeped in the past. Mechanic tightened it and safety wired and and voila, problem solved. Quote
N601RX Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Its a common problem. Glue it in and then pull the safety wire tight. Holding the filler neck while unscrewing the dipstick will help alot. Quote
jetdriven Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Thats just a thin paper gasket and it leaks when the tube backs off from removing the dipstick. We fixed this problem by replacing that gasket with a thin o-ring and then dogged the tube down tight and safety wired it. Its a permanent fix. Quote
