Hank Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 John-- Shouldn't you side-step to the right so you can keep an eye on the runway and watch the other traffic? I've been cleared to depart after someone else has been cleared to land. That's when a look up final approach is priceless. GA on 2-mile final is plenty, but more distance is required if it's a Boeing/Airbus coming in. But I go infrequently to controlled fields . . . Quote
1964-M20E Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 In this case I was on a parallel runway and going right would have put me over the other runway. Sorry I left that important detail out. Quote
Mooneymite Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 I will second that. I too have been asked to slow when second behind a citation jet for landing - what's up with those pokey Cessna jets? I too often get the arrival procedures usually for turbines at some airports. Hmmmmm. Not to burst any bubbles, but.....The Citation I fly uses approach speeds of 109/115 kts for 90% of the landings and we typically slow to about 200 kts at the marker and then slow to 125 kts until close in. Even though I love to think of Mooneys as fast, I find it hard to believe any of them have to SLOW behind a Citation unless it is just to get the tower a little spacing to squeeze out a departure. Maybe it was a Slow-tation? Quote
