Good job you guys. If you are in need of any other support from pilots in the region please advise. I am an hour's flight away to the north, and flew into oceano for the AOPA fly-in just a few weeks ago.

This is exactly why we are putting together "Oceano Airport Celebration Day", Sat. May 8 at L52.  We do not want this person to dimish the airports value in any way.  We will be putting the press to work on this in order to get our community out for the day.  At the Celebration Day,  we'll begin to educate our community on the value of GA and in turn, the value of Oceano Airport.

All things that fly are welcome.  We are summoning CHP planes, Sheriff's Search and Rescue planes, LifeFlight, CalStar, Angel Flight, etc.  This will prove and enlighten the folks that our airport is not for recreational flying alone.  L52 [as with all airports] provides a lifeline in our community. 

The Oceano Airport Celebration Day will be presented by Mooney Ambassadors. Please come and put your Mooney on display and help us get the word out about GA!

Also, according to Edwards, we will be allowed into the April 21st "public" meeting. This will prove to be interesting based on the March 17th experience of not allowing too many pilots into the so called "public meeting".

Oceano Update
This Saturday, April 10th:  10:00 a.m.  The volunteers for the grounds are meeting at the Oceano Airport.  We are doing all the fun sexy stuff, like weeding, digging and raking.  Please join us if you would like to help.  Our campground has been designed with native, drought tolerate, low maintenance plants.  The County will be painting the building and striping the parking lot.  We are responsible for the rest, as this is what we volunteered to do!

Edwards-A-GoGo Tailgate Party and #2 meeting April 21st... Party: 3:00  Meeting: 4:00 After Party:5:00ish

Wish List:  We are seeking donations for the following items

Crushed serpentine rock for around the fire pits
Bark dust: large for the beds in the front of the building, and in the campground
Weed and Feed: or its equivalent for the "lawn" area in the campground
Rubbermaid cabinet for the campground to hold the recreational items that were donated
Colorful annuals and/or succulents for the 10 wine barrel halves we had donated
15 mph wind sock, ours is toast
2- insta heat water heaters for the bathrooms [one each]
$$ Cash donations for the campground plants.  I have applied to SLO-PA for a grant.

For large donations we are very happy to provide signage at the event, and perhaps a sign on the actual item [if possible]

Hello All

 

We had about 50 come to Edwards-A-GoGo. The tailgate party was fun, if cold. And we had some beautiful and colorful protest signs [see photos].  I was interviewed by KSBY TV and The Tribune also covered the event. Cal Pilots attended as well. All in all, a great event for us.  I think that we have good momentum.
