Hello,
I want to install a JPI EDM830 instead of my EDM800. I like the colour and the ability to see all important indications at once.
What I am not sure about is the viewing angle. I have to install the 830 on the copilots side. Is it good to read from this position or would I need a angle bracket like it is necessary for the Garmin 496?
Is the viewing angle dependent on orientation of the unit? I want to install it with the buttons facing to the pilots side.
Does someone have pictures of a EDM installation?

Thank you very much for any information.

Hi

I have an EDM 730 installed in a 99S on the pilot's side, left of the yoke. The screen is great and much easier to read than my old 700. I especially like the ability to read all 6 CHTs and EGTs in one glance. Haven's seen it installed on the co-pilot side but as we sit so close to the panel in flight I find screens on that side hard to read even with an angle adapter personally.

I too have the EDM 800 and want to replace it with the 830. I looked at them while at the Oshkosh airshow . I made sure I viewed it from an angle because I'd be mounting it on the right (copilot) panel. The angle made it more difficult to view, so I'd recommend mounting it at a slight angle. JPI has a sweet deal on upgrading your old unit, and the 830 is supposed to be a plug and play using your existing probes.  I often tell people that the best bang for my buck was my EDM 800.  I'll probably have the 830 in by Spring (I hope).
