jdpusser Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 I installed a factory Continental on a Mooney Acclaim with G1000. No matter what I do, I am unable to get an RPM indication. The orginal tach sensor went back with the core, but the new engine came with a new tach sensor. It is a different part number than the original one so this may be the issue. The original one was 0406-004 according to the Mooney build sheet. The sensor that came on the new engine was 658617-2. I am getting 10 volts out of the G1000 and if I put 1.5 volts on the sense wire I can get the rpm gauge to move. I think it's either the wrong tach sensor or a bad sensor from the factory. Garmin, Mooney, and Continental have been no help. Has anyone ran into this. Thanks, Josh

There are options starting with software version 401.30.

I agree this is a possibility but no one could do it even if I could get Mooney or Garmin to help. My avionics guy says he is limited on anything g1000 on the Mooney because Mooney retained all the rights and Mooney doesn’t have avionics support.

If all that it is is a mag sensor, this might be your problem: https://continental.aero/service-bulletins/SB02-3.PDF
