Matthew P Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 I just got off the phone with Mr. Pollack (Mooney CEO) there IS an agreement that will allow for the manufacture of the 40:1 Gear Sets that we have been hoping/waiting for. The Authorized POC will be contacting me within the next couple of weeks and I will get the cost and timeline information and share with the group as well as the order process. This is GREAT news and wouldn't have been possible without Mr. Pollack's willingness to put in the (unpaid) effort to make this possible. I appreciate everyone patience and encouragement during the process that got us to this point. More to follow once I get more information. V/r Matt 9 11

MikeOH Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 I have 20:1 gears. Can I simply swap in 40:1 gears, or are there additional mods required to the Duke's assembly?

ProtoFly Posted February 18 Report Posted February 18 I'll be pulling the actuator in a couple days to do the cleaning and re-greasing....Hoping for the best, but at least there'a hope that if the worst is discovered, there will be (soonish?) a new set of gears available! Thanks for your work on this!
Matthew P Posted February 18 Author Report Posted February 18 So, just an update...I spoke with John Smoker (COO) at LASAR who is finalizing a licensing agreement to allow for the manufacturing and sale of the 40:1 Gear Sets. LASAR is currently working with the manufacture to update the licensing agreement so it will take a little time before they can take orders. Mr. Smoker will be contacting me, at a later date, to provide me the information regarding costs, lead times and minimum run requirements and once I receive the news I'll provide an update. I would anticipate that we should hear something within the next 30-45 days. I wish I had more information for you, especially those aircraft that are currently AOG searching for options or those individuals that have already undergone modification to keep their aircraft flying. I've been assured that the cost of the gears will be significantly less than the cost of a used actuator. Also, LASAR is currently working to find a means to have the Actuator Motors repaired, so more good news for those with electric landing gears or those wanting to upgrade to electric landing gears. Once again, would not have been possible without the efforts of Jonny Pollack (CEO, Mooney). V/r matt 6 1

Matthew P Posted February 18 Author Report Posted February 18 28 minutes ago, EricJ said: My expectations of affordability just went down. LOL, that was my first thought as well...hopefully not though, but with as many OUT OF STOCK items they have, might be looking to make it up in other areas 2

tcal780 Posted February 19 Report Posted February 19 Well, I paid 3k for my 40:1 set a couple years ago. I was hoping the community had some other angle here. 1
Echo Posted February 19 Report Posted February 19 am very happy that a run is being done, but This is a gear. A gear that is already being manufactured. $500 is a LOT for a gear the size of a quarter. A thousand is insane. Anything over that and they can suck it. I will scrap the plane before I pay that.

A thousand percent% Two thousand %? What is the number of Dukes gear systems produced/flying? I want them/Laser to make a good fair profit. The back spring is the same deal. Just a f.u. owner price. A take it or leave it price. I am a leave it guy vs. bending iver and "taking it". Over the years with three Mooneys I have given Laser thousands. The majority was BEFORE sell out and new ownership... 1

Are you frigging serious, I know what those things cost to make...that's not fair market, that's rape right there.
