Thanks! Quote
Hank Posted December 2, 2024 Report Posted December 2, 2024 Halos are on sale, too. With or without Bluetooth. I bought a set for my wife, who did not want an in-ear set--she liked her David Clark's and gel ear pieces. It only took one short local flight to change her mind! https://www.quiettechnologies.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=66_59 2 Quote

Nothing like ANR….YMMV Quote

Thanks That's not a bad deal on the Zulu 3, which is still my fave headset. I bought a Delta Zulu and was disappointed. 1 Quote

I'm circling like a buzzard and maybe going to get a Zulu 3 at some point for my wife. Borrowed one to trial (ended up with DC One-XP on that round) and really liked it. We should all watch for bulk deals (like the 3 headset discounts they sometimes do). Quote
AJ88V Posted December 7, 2024 Author Report Posted December 7, 2024 Didn't find a better deal for a higher-end ANR headset, so pulled the trigger on the Lightspeed Zulu3 last night. All the major sellers had the $799 promo price (Spruce, Sporty's, Amazon) and had free shipping, but they all also charged t@xes ($56? in Virginia). Ended up buying direct from Lightspeed for $799 total shipped. FWIW, I do really like my Bose A30s, but definitely would have bought two Lightspeeds if they had this sale back in the summer. At the time I was comparing the Delta Zulu to the Bose and in a pique of aviation enthusiasm said WTF and bought the Bose. Quote
Danb Posted December 7, 2024 Report Posted December 7, 2024 Bought the Lightspeed delta last year with a few others here on the bulk sale program they had, also bought the A 30s sold my A20s. I have the Lightspeed Zulu also. I made a mistake selling my two A20s which I liked better than my A30s, dislike my Delta Zulus and my Lightspeed Zulus are ok. Moral I like the original Bose A20 by far the Lightspeed Zulus are ok and dislike the Deltas. Tried the in ear many love here my wife loves her Clarity headset. Should try the companies that will give 30 day trials. Good luck Quote
toto Posted December 7, 2024 Report Posted December 7, 2024 Apropos of nothing, the best headset I ever had was a David Clark H10-13S that I converted to ANC with a Headsets, Inc. kit. I fly with a Bose every day, but if I’m honest that DC was actually better than anything I’ve used since. 2 Quote

Yeah, I'm still thinking of picking up a used DC H10-13S headset and doing a Headsets Inc conversion. The controller box is pretty old fashioned, but that combo does work well and the passive attenuation is quite good. Quote

The DC was a very nice passive headset, and the ANC from Headsets Inc. was excellent. I do like the Bose, but I think the DC is a better set. And I definitely like having a more robust headset that isn’t so heavily dependent on electronics for noise canceling. I keep thinking about doing another conversion myself and keeping my two Bose headsets for passengers 1 Quote

I borrowed one from a friend awhile back and was impressed with these as well. Wouldn't mind picking one up at some point, probably the bluetooth version. Quote

I have a pair of A30's and while they are really nice, I think I would like them more if they had stronger passive noise blocking. I'm a bit suprised how heavily they rely on the ANR. It works surprisingly well but it just is not the same. I bet your converted headset was excellent. Quote

I still have the converted DC, but the missus claimed that one and she leaves the fancy Bose for pax. So I need to convert my second DC if I actually want to use it Quote
