Van Lanier Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 Has anyone installed an S-Tec/Cobham 30 ALT Altitude Hold (only) system in their Mooney? I have an antique ARC-AF 512B factory installed autopilot that, believe it or not, works fine in heading and GPS tracking modes. I would like to add altitude hold, as I am getting older and finding that manually holding altitude on long cross country flights is a bit tiring. I know -- I can get a GFC 500 with GI-275s, an engine monitor, new audio, new panel, etc. for $55K or so. But, I don't need the world's most expensive M20C. Many thanks. Quote
MikeOH Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 I'm afraid I can't help with any install experience. However, I purchased my F with an STEC-30 with ALT already installed and have been very happy with it. Stable, no porpoising. And, have had no maintenance issues in 7 years. Quote
