Well, let’s hope that works but, if it doesn’t, look out CA pilots/airports. I imagine a lot of closures - FAA rules still apply though if they took federal funding…

Tell the county of Santa Clara. They seem to be ignoring that and the litigation is moving at snails pace.

If there was a market for it, it would be available. If not in the legit market, the cartels would make it happen. It has to be easier to make than meth.

TEL is easy to mix into gas, but I don't think that making TEL is easy. It's apparently very hostile to personnel without the proper protective gear.

Ok, no doubt this is coming, is TEL available in any shape or form as an additive for race fuel in the US?? to my best understanding only a couple of ounces go into 100 gal avgas, think the only place that makes it is a plant in the UK, is that really so??

It is very hazardous to make. And has a 25% yield. There are a few patients about how to increase the yield. The waste lead can be recycled. 
 

In the early days, the first people who were trying to develop the process mostly died.

This company Innospec makes TEL. They say on their website that they are committed to never allowing TEL to be available to the general public as a post production additive.  
 

I have read that there are Chinese companies that make illegal TEL.

I actually copied your BOLD text and searched in Google.  That easy to find your answer.

 

Oh, and the answer is NO because it is banned in the US.

In what way was it illegal?  It is not patented.  Even if it illegal to make it in the US that does not mean it is illegal to make in China.

I know that in 2003 or so, China was using benzene in commercial paint thinners.  Perfectly legal there.

I bought a half dozen cans of R-12 in 99 when I was in Korea, it was legal there as it was a “developing nation” you know, third world.

I believe China is also considered a developing nation so they get a pass on chemical etc the first world isn’t allowed to have.

You can get it, just like Halon.

But it can’t be manufactured, where it can be and is in “developing countries” because you know they are third world and need help growing their economy. 

Apparently, finally the US Congress is trying to strip China’s developing nation status, if your a developing nation yiu get all kinds of considerations from the World bank etc. in order to help your Nation grow.

China is of course one of the wealthiest nations on Earth as it’s the Worlds leading manufacturer, so why is it still classified as a developing nation?

China’s economy is #2 behind the US, but still over four times the size of Germany and Japan.

Actually in the US, the ban was against interstate transport.  At the time of the ban, Arizona tried to get someone to build a plant there as they figured that the state used enough R-12 and R-22 to support the plant without interstate transport.

Didn’t know that.

But back to the TEL thing, even if you could get it and knew how much to add etc, that’s not a legal fuel.

Plus I strongly suspect should California find out your putting lead into fuel they would punish you severely.
