Stetson20 Posted March 12, 2024 Report Posted March 12, 2024 I looked at previous threads. Does anyone still sell these visors? TIA Quote

TIA Check with Darwin Conrad up at Rocket Engineering in Spokane, WA. If he doesn’t have them, then it’s time to talk to @DonMuncy about some much better visors than the original Mooney visors. Quote
DonMuncy Posted March 12, 2024 Report Posted March 12, 2024 I admit mine are better, but I don't have any way to print the information on the shades. Quote

TIA I have not asked specifically about these, but I have been able to get everything I need from Rocket. Darwin may be a little hard to get on the phone because Rockets and Missiles are not his core business any longer. That said, he seems to be ready, willing, and able to provide support for all the specialized parts. Text or email is better than telephone, and you may need to be persistent -- short and to-the-point are more likely to get a response. Quote
VWInc Posted March 13, 2024 Report Posted March 13, 2024 I will be watching this thread with great interest! I have a screenshot on my ipad I use (actually kind of nice at night), but I would love to have the real thing! Quote
Stetson20 Posted March 13, 2024 Author Report Posted March 13, 2024 Thanks I'll check with Darwin and see if I get a response. Quote
Marc_B Posted March 13, 2024 Report Posted March 13, 2024 Surely there is a company that will create a decal for this. I've seen decals that have a clear backing you remove and you lay the decal down with a clear mask, then remove the mask leaving the labeling. I'm not quite sure what this is called...labeling, screen printing...or just a vinyl decal? 1 Quote

When I switched out Visors in the last Bravo I owned I used a company called StickerYou.com and sent them a picture of what I wanted on the visors. I put all of the information in an .xls file, got it just the way I wanted and then send them a .pdf of that. They printed it so that it was white letters on clear. They turned out well. 2 Quote

Don, Can you send me a link? I may just buy yours and then have the info put on as a decal as mentioned later in the thread. Thanks! Quote
Fritz1 Posted March 13, 2024 Report Posted March 13, 2024 I bought the visors from Don Muncy to replace my Bravo visors and like them, did not apply any lettering since the performance table printed on the original Bravo visor is unrealistic and some settings will smoke the engine in no time. 1 Quote

It looks like the erroneous settings were just "removed" from the visor in the original picture! Quote

First off the ones I had were prone to hitting the windshield and scratching it...When I put a new windshield on I didnt want it getting scratched. Now I have a small mesh Sunblocker with plyable edges and suction cups that I can put wherever I need it. It lives up high center windshield stuck via the suction cups, with the "frame" bent around the center post and takes up very little windown. I have the rocket speed chart on my Ipad if I need to reference it. Quote

Mine are a shameless copy of LASAR's design (which is a knock-off of Rosen's hardware, albeit with a different shape shade, that seems to work well in a Mooney). I started building them after LASAR quit selling them. They are fully articulating, so you can swing them from the front to the side. The hardware is aluminum that I anodize black. I will be glad to answer any questions you have if you will PM me. Or give me a call at 214 207-6744 or email muncy-d@hotmail.com. 1 Quote

I bet just about any printer or sign shop would be able to either print on the acrylic or put vinyl decals on it. Another alternative would be to mask the entire visor, laser etc the image/text through the masking and then spray paint it. I have a laser that could probably do that, it's hit and miss with acrylic because it's a blue LED laser that passes through clear acrylic but, I think it would work fine on the smoked acrylic used for visors. 1 Quote
