tls pilot Posted May 8, 2023 Report Posted May 8, 2023 Any advice best way to attach push to talk cap off stem i know Not to use super glue what is best material to use thanks Quote
carusoam Posted May 8, 2023 Report Posted May 8, 2023 The usual method is a push until it clicks… There is most likely an under cut in the cap that fits over a ridge on the post… allowing it to be pressed on and later pulled off… PP thoughts only, not an avionics guru… Best regards, -a- Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted May 8, 2023 Report Posted May 8, 2023 You can get them on Digi Key for a couple of bucks. 1 Quote
PT20J Posted May 8, 2023 Report Posted May 8, 2023 Depends on the switch. Switch caps 5/16” or larger often snap on or screw on. Smaller ones with smooth shafts are designed to be glued on or they come off and get lost. Super glue is commonly used - just use a small amount so it doesn’t ooze out and glue the switch shaft to the case. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted May 8, 2023 Report Posted May 8, 2023 An example of a screw on cap… The Mooney electric gear switch… the post is threaded, and the big tire looking knob screws on the threaded post. Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

Vance Harral Posted May 9, 2023 Report Posted May 9, 2023 Try this link, for switch caps in black: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Electroswitch/SW53AA2?qs=5muX3C0yOnj5E%2FJxlK6wTg%3D%3D&countryCode=US¤cyCode=USD I didn't glue mine on as others have mentioned. I'm sure it will fall off eventually, but it's been there for months with no trouble. At about a buck apiece, just buy a dozen and keep spares handy. 1 Quote

I like it because the cap is small. Most miniature switches have larger caps. Quote

It's coiled up like a phone cord from the right yoke to the panel. Quote
