Troy Jordan Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 First post and my first problem! I have been calling the recommended list and Covid has evidently consumed the instructor community this week. I am a CFII, ATP, but the insurance requires a IPC checkout. Do you know of any instructors outside the of the posted list in the Houston area? Thank you! Quote
kortopates Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Many of us travel, that said i am too far. i do lots of K transition training and have never seen anyone require an IPC. At least not without a couple mill smooth for the added liability. anyway that seems counterproductive as transition training is chiefly VFR on landings, airframe, engine management and your systems. That’s typically a 3 day course with a high density alt airport added - without ever starting instrument flying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Pinecone Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 I am meeting Matt Wetzel (listed on Mooney Flyer Instructor page) for my checkout in my new plane in the Houston area. Quote

JayMatt Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Could check costal skies at pearland maybe? They had a few mooney owners there. Also a guy in galveston that's ex military/nasa has a Mooney and at least a cfii. I could talk to him next time I see him and tell him to get on here. I believe he visits mooney space. Don't remember his name or know much more about him. Quote
kortopates Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 When I went to brand c, I had to have an IPC every year too. Never made sense i’ve seen it required when above 1 mill smooth coverage. But did they require an IPC for transition training , prior to solo and/or passengers - that’s new to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Avemco wanted the IPC and others wanted the cirrus annual embark or whatever they call it. If I remember right the IPC had to be with a csip. The IPC was the path of least resistance as one of my partners was a csip. Mind you this is for a commercial, multi, cfi, cfii too. I are not a csip though I should become one. It pays well Edited August 4, 2022 by philip_g Quote
