First post and my first problem!  I have been calling the recommended list and Covid has evidently consumed the instructor community this week.  I am a CFII, ATP, but the insurance requires a IPC checkout.  Do you know of any instructors outside the of the posted list in the Houston area?

Thank you!

Many of us travel, that said i am too far. i do lots of K transition training and have never seen anyone require an IPC. At least not without a couple mill smooth for the added liability.

anyway that seems counterproductive as transition training is chiefly VFR on landings, airframe, engine management and your systems. That’s typically a 3 day course with a high density alt airport added - without ever starting instrument flying.

When I went to brand c, I had to have an IPC every year too. Never made sense

Could check costal skies at pearland maybe? They had a few mooney owners there. Also a guy in galveston that's ex military/nasa has a Mooney and at least a cfii. I could talk to him next time I see him and tell him to get on here. I believe he visits mooney space. Don't remember his name or know much more about him.

i’ve seen it required when above 1 mill smooth coverage. But did they require an IPC for transition training , prior to solo and/or passengers - that’s new to me.

I don't think we could get a mil smooth. I can't remember. Avemco wanted the IPC and others wanted the cirrus annual embark or whatever they call it. If I remember right the IPC had to be with a csip. The IPC was the path of least resistance as one of my partners was a csip.

Mind you this is for a commercial, multi, cfi, cfii too. I are not a csip though I should become one. It pays well
