Rotorhead Posted June 21, 2022 Report Posted June 21, 2022 Pretty easy question with a hopefully easy solution too. I have 2 gal of TKS onboard that's just sitting there and would rather have better W&B margins living in ABQ. Is there any way to drain/ offload some without opening panels? If the bottom panel does need to come off then so be it, but thought I would ask the guru's first. Thanks in advance.
M20F Posted June 21, 2022 Report Posted June 21, 2022 Make sure you are cycling the system every month. That 2 gallons is probably enough for 2-3 months then you are just going to be back to adding more. 1
CAV Ice Posted June 21, 2022 Report Posted June 21, 2022 I would advise against letting the TKS system sit unused for an extended period of time. A few thing we've seen from inactive systems: 1) Corroded filter bowl $1,300 2) Seized windshield pumps $900 each 3) Corroded main metering pumps $2,860 each 4) Panel purging required $ is dependent on labor We recommend running the system at least once a month. Ideally twice a month. 1

CAV Ice Posted June 21, 2022 Report Posted June 21, 2022 You will have to access it through the belly, but inboard of the right wing is a finger strainer. Disconnect the line going to the strainer and be ready with a bucket. 1
