M20TN_Driver Posted May 20, 2022 Report Posted May 20, 2022 Hi folks. Now that I have my gear door going back on, I am going to need to jack the plane and do a full gear swing to ensure everything goes back in the right place. I have been told that on our Acclaims there is a jackpoint on the nose somewhere--although I can find NO reference to it in the POH. Is this is a myth? If not, does anyone have a location or ideally a photo of where to jack this bad boy? All help appreciated! Quote
Rick Junkin Posted May 20, 2022 Report Posted May 20, 2022 I think its the same place as on my Bravo - on bottom of the engine mount near the firewall just outside the nose gear door on the pilot's side. Sorry I don't have a picture. What you'll see is an open tube sticking straight down right at the bottom of the fuselage. You'll need one of these jack points to insert into that open tube. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/jackpointsmooney.php Cheers, Rick Quote

Install wing jack points (2) (Mooney P/N 010000-000) in tiedown mounting holes outboard of each main landing gear. Install Nose Landing Gear jack point (1) (jackpoint, Mooney P/N 010000-000) into re- ceptacle (located under the cowling at Fuselage Sta- tion -5.51) - Refer to Figure 7-1. Quote

carusoam Posted May 26, 2022 Report Posted May 26, 2022 Great pic Lance! The placard says Jack point…. Pretty obvious…. But the actual Jack point is a hole at the bottom of the engine mount…. Less obvious… Make sure you mechanic knows where it is or expect some crushed sheet metal if he guesses…. PP thoughts only, -a- Quote
M20TN_Driver Posted May 26, 2022 Author Report Posted May 26, 2022 Well mine was just repainted so not "Pretty Obvious" or I wouldn't have asked... But thank you to all--my belly is painted all black so without crawling under the cowling with a flash light I would have had a tough time finding it. Strange thing is that the longer threaded jackpad that came with the plane doesn't seem to fit the hole. Yet another mystery to unravel. Quote

The Acclaim uses the short one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Your paint shop should have looked at your POH to see what placards are required. This one is on page 2-19 1 Quote
carusoam Posted May 27, 2022 Report Posted May 27, 2022 The advantage of having the placards in their standard places…. They provide useful details for doing maintenance… or somebody else is fueling the plane… Please forgive my writing style…. When I typed that the placard was pretty obvious… that’s what I meant… Because the actual jacking point is still hidden and not really obvious that it is a jacking point…. I’m still learning how to write…. Improving every day… Best regards, -a- Quote
M20TN_Driver Posted November 3, 2022 Author Report Posted November 3, 2022 Thanks all on this one--No Worries @carusoam I was a bit tongue-in-cheek with my response too;-). Artcraft painted my plane and they did put all placards on the aircraft (painted no stickers) except for the one for the nose jack! Must have missed it. I've attached a pic of my bird for your viewing pleasure. 3 Quote

The placard for my Jack point… simply says ‘Jack Point’ It is small Vinyl lettering just outside the cowl… no arrows… no info to look further… with the cowling removed… still no hint that you are looking directly at a Jack point… Something had damaged the vinyl letters, and a small dent in the aluminum… Looks like somebody actually tried to Jack the plane at the placard… Go Acclaim!
