I recently had Terry Gerber of KC Headsets repair an issue with one of my older Bose X headsets. The service was excellent.

Once he received the headset he evaluated the unit and then called me about what needed repairing and the cost.  All in was less then $200.

I highly recommend Terry for headset repairs.

I’ve got about an eight yr old set ofBose that was going in the trash, Bose won’t support it and I wasn’t aware third parties did. Mine has a bad mike, I’ll give this guy a call.

If it’s eight years old it’s an A20; They will support that.

Agree.  I've had Bose work on one of my 6+ year-old A20 headsets (as well as a 2 year-old ProFlight2), and repair them both at no charge.  Had to chase down the tech in Mass. who actually did the work to understand the work order/repair documentation when I received them back (as it was really jibberish), but once I spoke with them, all was good, and both headsets tested successfully in a few airplanes.  turnaround time for both was about a couple of weeks including shipping.

It doesn’t say A20 on it, just Bose, and the battery box looks different than what the internet pics of the A20 is, so I guess it’s an X.

Either way Terry says he will replace the Mic and check everything out for $135

I’d rather just buy a Mic as it’s held in only by two screws, but I can’t find any for sale.

Time flies, the A20 came out back in 2010 and the Bose X was discontinued at the same time. If I’m not mistaken I think the X came out in 1999 or 2000. So one of these days I would expect a new Bose on the market.

Bose isn’t being stubborn about not wanting to work on the Bose X. Their customer service is outstanding. They worked on the X's for 10 years after they stoped making them. The problem is that as times goes by the supply of parts is exhausted to the point where they can’t guarantee that it will meet the TSO standards to which is was designed and manufactured. Someone else may be able to repair it so it functions using used parts, but Bose isn’t willing to do that.

I’ve owned the Series II, the X and the A20 and they have all been excellent and even though other headsets have improved, I still think Bose continues to set the standards that are chasing.

I used him also. Bose would not even work on an older set. He fixed them and they are working great . So nice to find a true repairman this day and time.
