We've been invited to participate in the static display again this year at the 2012 Indianapolis Air Show.  This was a great event for us last year featured in the MAPA Log and last year included the Blue Angels.  This year they're featuring The Thunderbirds and the air show was just honored as the "2011 Air Show of the Year" at last week's International Council of Air Shows.  I've requested confirmation of how many slots we will have available for us this year, but am anticipating we'll be given ramp space for 4-5 Mooneys.  It is a large event, so it is a commitment of arriving Friday and leaving after the show Sunday because of difficulty in moving anything while the air show is underway.  If you are interested in attending, please PM me with your contact information, location, Mooney information and number of people you'd anticipating coming in with you.  Look forward to another good showing at this event this year!

Sounds like great fun! I couldn't make the date last year [i was at a wedding instead], and hope to make it this year. When is it???? I really want to see the Thunderbirds, I grew up watching the Blue Angels.

Duh, just saw the date in the poll at the top. Late June should be doable! Assuming you'll take a vintage plane with a vintage paint job. Smile  It's in good condition, just no swirly stripes or anything.

Excellent Hank!  We'll look forward to having you there!  I'm anticipating we're going to get slots for 4-5 aircraft in the display and we already have four positive responses in less than an hour of posting this.  Never hurts to have backups as well in case of maintenance or weather issues for anyone (there were horrible storms north of the show last year that precluded one of our attendees and always better safe than sorry).  So far, this makes you, me, Peter Wei and Cruiser (TomK).  They had a really great turnout last year despite some challenging weather and rain.  Getting excited about it already!

Great Ned!  This brings us to five and I'm anticipating we'll get 4-5 slots, hoping for 5.  For anyone else interested, it doesn't hurt to have backups in case anyones schedule changes and even if not in the display, there will be plenty of space for fly-in parking at the air show as there was last year.  I'll post updates as I receive them.  Thanks all.

This is going to be a great show and an awesome way to support our Mooney Airplane Company and Promote General Aviation.  Fun fun

Just about 3.5 weeks to the Indianapolis Air Show!  The headliner for the show is going to be the Thunderbirds this year.  For any planning to attend, please bring lawn/folding chairs for yourselves and an umbrella is always a good bet; maybe having them will keep the rain away!  There is an arrival procedure published on the Visitors Information page on their website (www.indyairshow.com) and currently it's the 2011 one, but we've been told they don't expect much if anything to change for 2012.  If I see it updated, I'll send it out to our participants in the event.  We currently have 5 Mooneys for the static display and any additional ones that join may or may not be able to be in it depending on their ramp space, but we welcome all and would look forward to seeing all Mooney Ambassadors that can make it!

The Indianapolis Air Show went great again this year and this time we had 5 aircraft on display for the event.  It went so well that we are not only invited back for a third time next year, but we also were invited by the Indiana Air National Guard to participate in their air show in Fort Wayne, Indiana 8/31-9/2 this year!  I will create a separate post for that event and we are definitely seeking interested participants.  We are in the process of getting details on timing, etc.

I want to personally thank our great Mooney Ambassadors that flew in to participate in the Indianapolis Air Show:  Peter Wei and Cathy Martin of Crown Point, IN, Hank Sims of Huntington, WV, Tom and Stanley Kowalczk of Port Clinton, OH and our longest distance travelers Mike and Leslie Frank all the way from the far end of Long Island, NY!  We also had a day of help from Rich Mercurio for the second year who flew in in his Bellanca Super Viking for Saturday, but he still has a lot of Mooniac in him!  It was an absolute pleasure to get to spend the time with everyone and can't say thank you enough for making this a great event for our program and for the attendees at the air show.  Great job and can't wait to see you all again at another!
