721lp Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Just bougt a used WxWorx unit off ebay and added the new upgrade from AnywhereMap for it . I paid 200 for the unit and 95 for the upgrade (plug-in board). It has been the best money (next to my fuel flow meter) that I have spent. I use it on the Quadra and usually keep it on the "weather" screen all the time. You can add whatever you want to "view" on this screen. Well pleased and didn't spend an arm and a leg for it. And no, I don't have room for my ipad in the cockpit.
jlunseth Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 I am with you, although I have my weather on the panel. Aside from the normal instruments, the two best additions to my cockpit have been an accurate fuel flow meter, and SatWX. The typical fuel gauges are so bad its silly to have them in the cockpit. I rely almost entirely on my fuel flow meter, and a table I create for each flight subtracting fuel used from each tank, to determine remaining fuel. I feel safer once I am in the air with the SatWX going, than I do with most of the weather reports I get on the ground. The only thing I can't do with my panel weather yet, which I will bet you can do with your Anywhere, is figure out a nav reference for a long deviation so I can let ATC know what that is. Would be great to be able to display the wx on a sectional.
